Hello, I'm Colin and here are today's headlines live from London with Pinksixty.
The opening ceremonies of the Olympics has caused a fury after including footage of the
first lesbian kiss on British TV.
Many Islamic states have never shown a gay kiss, and the ceremonies showing London's
inclusive and tolerant culture has proven shocking to some.
One of the final bearers of the Olympic flame was Chris Basiurski, who was cheered by the
crowds as he announced plans to marry his boyfriend.
Basiurski passed the flame to Antoine de Navacelle, the great-grandnephew of the founder of the
modern Olympiad.
In the US, a pro-gay marriage advert went out during the opening ceremony.
The ad, funded by the Pride Foundation, features Republican senator, Cheryl Pflug, talking
about her gay friends and their relationships.
Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, and his wife are donating $2.5 million USD to uphold gay marriage
in Washington state prior to a referendum in November.
The couple join rich donors from Microsoft and Yahoo in supporting marriage equality.
And finally, the Pride House 2012 opening ceremony takes place at Limehouse in London
this Friday.
Both the 'Against the Rules' and 'Fearless' exhibitions will be presented at an invite-only
reception.
That's all from us today. Join us again tomorrow.
