I am Anuradha from Sirsi
If asked to speak about my family I'd say-
My father drives the rickshaw for a living;
My mother works hard and guides us
along the right path to achieve our goals.
I have always wanted to deeply connect with the minds of people.
And to be fondly remembered by them.
I asked myself, what should I be doing for this?
I should invest all my effort into achieving this goal.
One thought that kept encouraging me all the while was
Arise! Awake! And stop not till your goal is reached.
This kept encouraging me to take action.
It kept saying- Go out and do something!
Touch peoples lives.
What I should begin doing kept troubling me.
Then it occurred to me, people all around me were suffering
people were desperate for good drinking water.
They were struggling for every drop of water.
I told myself that I had to solve this problem.
I just had to do it.
I took an oath that I would achieve this goal.
Despite the Taluk Panchayat and Zila Panchayat regularly
assigning resources and money for these facilities
none of it actually reached our village.
So I took a oath that I would use the money this time for our purpose
that I would solve our problem.
So I went with my team to the Taluk Panchayat.
There, we spoke to the Panchayat members.
We had to convince them extensively of our purpose.
They were convinced.
All through this quest to build ourselves a water tank
I carried out my tasks with great enthusiasm and happiness.
But there was a shortage of space for the tank.
We had to look for space to build the tank.
We wanted to build the tank, but there was no space.
So we searched for suitable spaces to build the tank.
We had extensive discussions on how we could solve this problem.
That was when our people, the villagers, came to our rescue.
They gave up their personal home spaces for building the tank.
Even the street lights of the village were built on such pieces of land.
In the spaces that they provided we have built three water tanks now.
And today, the fact that our people who would struggle for water
can now gladly offer their water to others makes me feel so proud.
Our people are now in a situation to ask others if they would like a glass of water!
Now I feel so jubilant for being able to say that I have become a leader.
That I have made a difference to peoples lives!
