>>JAMIE: As Tony explained earlier, the Get On campaign is the latest campaign by the Motorcycle Industry Association to get people out on two wheels.
So they can get the pleasure I know about!
But they don’t have to preach to me, I’m converted, I have a garage full of bikes!
But I’m going to have a go anyway and you can too! So come down here, put your name down and have a go on a bike!
I’m going to get kitted up now.
>>INSTRUCTOR: What I’m going to get you to do is going to get you to push it towards me and when I tell you to apply the front break, just apply the front break gently.
So when you’re ready. Good, up you come and just stop the break gently.
Good, that was nicely done but can I see four fingers on the front break please.
Not just the two, okay?
Hit the start button. Give the bike a gentle rev just to get used to it.
Brilliant, what I’m going to ask you to do now is to put the bike into first gear and get used to where the clutch is biting.
So keep the front break applied, into first gear for me. Good.
Get both feet down for the moment and just get used to where the clutch is biting.
Good, that’s it. And again. And again.
Now do the exercise without your hand on the front break. Just purely throttle and clutch.
Excellent. Brilliant!
I’m going to ask you to pull away, go round the back of me and start to go round anti-clockwise and when I asked you to change into second, get into second.
Keep it in first gear, go all the way round.
Off the clutch, don’t cover the clutch, off the clutch! Good!
And when you’re ready, up into second gear for me! Nicely done.
Carry on riding around in second. That’s good!
