Paint color, picked. Now the dreaded decision,
what sheen should you use. Don't panic they're basically just four finishes to
choose from.
Flat, satin, semigloss and gloss. And that's what sheen means;
The level of gloss that's in your paint. Flat has the lowest level.
It's smooth matte finish is great for covering and concealing surface
imperfections,
just like a good foundation. Flat's big draw back: it's tough to clean.
So use it in low traffic spaces. Next up, satin.
It's slight sheen brings warmth and depth to a space.
Easier to clean than flat, satin is a pretty safe bet for most rooms.
Semigloss gives some noticeable shine. Easy to clean and durable,
it's great for kids rooms, kitchens, and baths. But, be warned
semigloss will point out any imperfections. Which leaves gloss...
Shiny, tough, and durable, it's best for baseboards doors and trim.
Spots that get a lot of wear and tear or use it someplace you want to draw
attention to,
like these high impact stripes. That's what sheen means, and that's good to know.
