What is YouTube?
This is actually quite simple.
Just like Instagram is for taking photos
of your food, and Facebook for writing important messages like "Tomorrow we'll
write a math test!", YouTube also has a very clear function: cat videos.
YouTube is the world's biggest platform for cat videos.
But like any big platform is it naturally being abused and people do things with it,
for which it was never intended. If you look closely, you can find on YouTube
pretty much everything: comedy, vlogs, tutorials, Games, movies or music videos.
Well, almost everything.
The abuse has become so massive, some even say
YouTube is the new television!
But in fact it's not at all like the old *** tube for people who have no internet:
YouTube is young, anarchic and totally different!
Old fashioned TV is all about stars, fixed transmission times, cheap shows,
annoying street polls, embarrassing home videos and too many commercial breaks!
None of this is happening on YouTube of course. Erm ...
Okay, so maybe it's not *completely* different. There are a few similarities.
But YouTube offers more! Unlike on television,
viewers can become active there. They do not only watch videos, but they also comment on them
and even make videos!
What goes on YouTube doesn't have to fear tv audience rates.
Instead it's called "views"! Which is of course much better!
And naturally you can also make videos when no one is watching.
New standards are set in the fight against surreptitious advertising - a big problem on TV!
On YouTube *independent* individuals reveal their personal favorite products,
and are guaranteed not bought over by the industry.
Tutorials are also very popular and, unlike on TV, can be watched at any time!
Origami artists show how to fold small animal zoos,
Relationship experts provide creative flirt tips, and hobby chefs explain what diverse options
you'll have when cooking with Bacon.
Gamers are, like the comedians, the group that is abusing YouTube the most, because
instead of cat videos they make only Letsplays. In these videos you can see others playing games
and learn a lot about different Games - such as Minecraft
but unfortunately almost nothing about cats.
Although there are still cat videos being uploaded on Youtube, the abuse
by other genres can never be completely prevented.
Instead, we should stick together as a community, and grab our favorite Youtubers and
ask them to make more cat videos.
We are YouTube, and if YouTube is the new television,
then I now want to know immediately which one of you is RTL (German tv station)... uh, no.
If YouTube is the new television, then we are all the program directors!
What do you watch most on YouTube?
Write it down in the comments!
If you liked the video, I'm happy if you give me a thumbs up
and I also appreciate if you share this video so that others can learn
what the secret of YouTube is!
Now you can either watch me explaining what a surveillance state is
or, alternatively, watch a cat video.
Have fun watching and until next time!
