Hello and welcome to Todd's kitchen. Bacon is one of those ingredients that i have seen on just about
anu and every recipe there is. So today I'm going to make you life just that little bit easier.
So join me today as i make my version of bacon seasoning.
We are going to start of with a baking tray lined with non stick baking paper
So with our bacon strips, just lay them
just across the baking paper just like so.
So what i want you to do now is place this into a pre heated oven
at one hundred and eighty degrees celcius for about twenty to twenty-five
minutes and what we want is a very crispy bacon with that over cooked look.
So as close to burnt as you can get them without actually burning the bacon.
I have taken them out of the oven and they are very well cooked.
Thats just how we want them.
So i have taken them out just before they started to go black, you don't want black but you want as
close to black
as you can possibly get them
now the biggest challenge right now is, is that you can not eat them.
i know you want to
but try not to other wise you have to start all over again.
So what we are going to do now is just
place some paper towel down and with our bacon just lay it across the paper towel
then out some more paper towel on top
just push it down
just so its touching
just hold it there for a bit
and we are going to leave this until the bacon has completely cooled down
But what the paper towel is doing is soaking up all that excess oil which we don't want.
So leave this for about two to three hours.
Now for this step I'm going to use a food processor
now you can use a blender if you choose
but i recommend you only use a glass blender
because if you use a plastic blender chances are it will scratch the inside
So into our food processor place in our
dried bacon that i have broken into smaller bits
Now im going to blend this until it comes up very fine and like a paste consistency
So once we have a relative fine consistency
pour in half a cup of salt
and our black pepper
then mix it up until its well combined
and of a much finer consistency
So its done.
Look at that, some lovely lovely
bacon seasoning
Now you can have this on just about anything you like. You can sprinkle it on some steak, some sausages
or even chicken. Pretty much anything you put salt on you can put this seasoning on.
Because lets be honest, bacon goes well with just about everything. I guarantee it you put this on a
piece of steak
that steak is going to taste simply delicious
Now to store this just place it in a sealed container
If you have a sealed salt shaker you can use that as well. It will last a couple of months in
the pantry. Thats why you have to cook the bacon as long as you can so its
completely dehydrated
but you still have all that lovely bacon flavour. Thank you for watching this episode of Todd's kitchen.
