we really shouldn't even have to at be having this fight for marriage equality
but
sadly we do have to have it and there is some positive news in that fight a
federal judge has decided to strike down
oklahoma's same-sex marriage ban oklahoma one of the US states that has
a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage in at USA today and CNN are
reporting
a federal judge ruled yesterday that Oklahoma's voter-approved ban on
same-sex marriage
actually violates the United States Constitution
this is of course coming after the similar decision in Utah last month
however unlike what happened in Utah where same-sex marriages started
happening immediately
now we have a stay we don't know what's going to happen with those marriages
that happened during that interim period
they will not start immediately in oklahoma
with the same sex marriages US District Judge Terrence pattern
stayed his ruling pending an appeal which certainly
there will be more than 900 same-sex couples got married in Utah during that
interim period
in 2004 oklahoma voters upheld
the had a written the the definition I guess
love %uh marriage as a man and a woman only in the state constitution
two lesbian couple sued for the right to get married
and to have marriages from other states recognize
in Oklahoma governor mary Fallin
criticizes the decision absolutely no surprise there she said
the people of oklahoma have spoken on the issue of course Louis you can't
really put
rights up to a vote and ultimately that's what this comes down to write
those 4.5 percent of Americans that Bryan Fischer cited yesterday
who have actually boded about the definition of marriage their votes are
relevant if it turns out
that it is simply a violation of a constitutional right because we don't
vote on rights
right so I it seems that when it comes to a state constitution
these bands can be legal because the Federal Constitution
trumps that it seems that a across the board I mean judges then
beagle experts are agreeing that
a you know a US Constitution guaranteeing sex marriage just
it doesn't work hopefully the Oklahoma
homophobes won't find a way to prevent this from going forward
ultimately and honestly II know that it's hard not to be angry with these
people who are dedicating so much of their lives to just making lot the lives
of others miserable
but how bad is your life have to be
if you dedicate time to biting
against other people just being able to marry the person they love
go learn a hobby go learn some kind of crap after
volunteer at an animal shelter or do something
why not be productive instead of being destructive
as as displeased and resentful as I am towards these people
I also can't help feeling sorry that their lives have been reduced to
fighting against other people's happiness
well they think they're saving the world they think they're doing something great
I'm so I i guess its just a a black-owned
a lack of understanding a lack of comprehension
I really just an inability to understand what's happening in the world around
them
