I think the education that our students get here in terms of being able to go out and actually
represent clients in a competent way is as good as any in the country.
Of course, that’s always been our quest,
is to try to stay ahead of the curve so we’re teaching students how they will be practicing,
not how we used to practice.
And that has remained constant.
Students have begun kind of habits of mind
and practice in the clinic that put them in good steed
in the next thirty or fifty years which really constitute the bulk of their legal education.
I think this school is really distinguished by the fact that every single one of the faculty members
is invested in the students’ success.
The national leader on focusing on practical legal education,
training students to become lawyers and enter into
the practice of law really prepared to participate in that practice.
I think the University of Montana School of Law has a long and rich tradition.
It’s been instrumental in fashioning the law of Montana.
Many great professors, many great students who have gone onto success.
And the school has provided the leadership that we needed in Montana to develop the law.
We are blessed with a remarkably talented student body.
I was absolutely honored, and to have folks that have graduated from the law school, to give back,
is absolutely critical to some folks, being able to go through law school
and to be able to make it through.
And just to have that generosity from alumni,
it just means a lot,
and it really allowed me to focus on studying and going to law school
and doing the things that I needed to do in law school
rather than worrying about how I would be able to pay for it.
Best place to live and work in America.
And that kind of says it all.
