Welcome to the Pickering Learning Site. This site houses graduate study programs,
which is mainly for students who have already completed a degree or diploma at college or university.
We have a very busy bus stop here, right behind the bridge. Which makes it really convenient and
easy for students to get here using public transit, and were also right along
the 401. Students studying here will also have access
to our facilities in Oshawa as well as Whitby. Staff members are always here to welcome
students and guests as the come into the building. On the wall we have information students may
need related to student support, but also has information for the public like course
calendars, and general info about school. This is a fully accessible building, and as
you can see we have an elevator for students who are either not able to use the stairs
or students like me who are lazy and don't wanna use the stairs. We have an elevator.
In the front section of the building, we have office and study room space and students make
use of this space all them time for group work. We also have more seating available
for students to study and talk on both the first and second floor, like this! Which is
really nice on a sunny day since their are so many windows. On the first floor just off the
main entrance, we have our computer lab for students. There are 24 computers in the lab.
Other than times when its booked for classes, its open and available for students, having
a laptop is not required but the whole building is wireless. So if you do have one, your good
to go. This is an example of one of the classrooms here at the Pickering site. As you can see
they are setup a bit differently, all the tables and chairs here are movable. The tables
are wired for internet access and power, and also completely mobile giving faculty the
opportunity to reconfigure the space allowing students to work in groups or change the dynamic
of a class. Upstairs on the second floor, we have some lovely student lounge space where
students can come between classes, or if their here before class they can come here and work.
Their are microwaves, vending machines, and when classes are on this space can be quite,
which is a good thing. Oh and there's also an information board for students to post
rooms for rent, books for sale, and things like that.
