Freezing Temperatures Sweep across Korea, Coldest Day This Winter

Here in Korea, people awoke up to one of the coldest days ever. Temperatures are averaging around negative 16-degrees Celsius... with morning temperatures in some areas reaching negative 18-degrees. Connie Lee has more on the cold snap. It's time to bundle up... and stay bundled up Not enough jackets, scarves, gloves or hats seem to be good enough for the cold snap that's gripped the nation at the start of the new year. Icy conditions on sidewalks and roads... have been dangerous.. and have slowed commuters on their way to and from work. With last month being the coldest December in Seoul in 45 years,... Thursday has been branded as the coldest day of the winter yet.. with an expected high of only negative 10-degrees Celsius, and a low of negative 16. The cold snap has also swept across the nation. In Munsan, in the northern part of the country,.. temperatures are falling below negative 20-degrees Celsius.. with the south-eastern parts of Korea, like Daegu and Jeonju, seeing low temperatures of negative 9 and ten degrees Celsius. The Korean Meteorological Agency says the current cold temperatures are the result of a Siberian cold front that has spread to the Korean Peninsula. "Forecasters say the freezing temperatures will persist all across the nation until around mid-January. For the rest of this week, the morning temperatures are expected to be well below negative ten-degrees Celsius.... with temperatures easing up on Sunday.
