We start this programme with this week's event;
A German movie which raised a lot of reactions on the Internet
So this movie begins very, very well because it's piping hot !!! And then.........
I told you it was real hot. But it's not the reason why this movie shocked
and not only in Germany, where the campaign was broadcasted ,
but only after 9 p.m. No the schock wave sparked by this movie has spread
like a wildfire all over the world, and for good reason !
Comparing AIDS to Hitler was gutsy
The small organiation behind the campaign explains that for Germans,
Hitler is the devil impersonated ;and that this was needed to condemn protection-free sex,
Certainly, the figures of the best-known butchers have in the past been used, with no outcry
But the problem is that Hitler, Stalin or Saddam are not cast in the roles of a virus
but as persons infected by AIDS; Or how cast away the ***-positive people
by depicting them as mass-criminals
That shows the limits of those "good cause" campaigns
which want to shock in order to mobiliez
like this Brazilian example, even more criticized in the US,
In this case also, you get the idea: "Man can create disasters,
but the worst catastrophes are sparked by nature".
Sure, you could tell things differently than "our tragedy is worse than yours"
WWF and its branch realized this a bit too late, and even tried to deny they had approved the idea
The campaign, aimed at winning prized in ad festivals, was not supposed to be seen on US screens.
You can compare everything, but not with anyone
Another example with this French film comparing the tsunami casualties and those of AIDS in Africa.
A commercial which didn't shock at all French viewers in 2005
and even won an award at the Meribel Film Festival
Not sure it would've been well received in Asia
So to could we compare the future casualties of Swine flu, to scare us even more ?
Aids in Africa
is a tsunami every month
Already 15 million deaths
