Now we really like the 2013 Seat Leon hatchback. It drives just like a Golf, but it's at a
little bit cheaper. so it's great news that Seat brought out an estate version of this
sport tourer, which has been a massive boost in practicality. So let's start from the most
important part of any estate car, and that's the boot.
At 587 litres claimed, that's 200 litres more than you get in the standard hatchback, but
it is less than the 605 litres than you get in the Golf Estate which is the model this
car is Essentially base on but the reason for this is the more slope sporty boot door
design which should take took away some of the space compared to the Golf.
Though when you do fold the rear seats flat, the loading capacity rises to a massive one
thousand four hundred and 70 liters, so with a bigger boot than the standard hatchback
it comes as a bit of a surprise that the overall weight is only 45 kilograms heavier. Seat
claims this is one of the lightest estate cars in this segment, and lighter should mean
more efficient.
The most frugal of all the Seat Leon Sport Tours available will be the 1.6 TDI which
claims to return 74.3 mpg and emit less than a hundred grams per kilometre of CO2. 1.2,
1.4, and 1.8 turbo petrols will be available, but the one that will steal all the sales
will be the two litre diesel. This will be available in 150 and 184 brake horsepower
versions.
The latter which will do naught to 60 two in 7.8 seconds, still returns 65.7 mpg, according
to Seat's claims. Around about a thousand pounds cheaper than the alternative Volkswagen
Golf. We think this represents really good value for money. It goes on sale in December
2013 with prices starting from around
about 16,000 pounds.
