Hey, I'm Cam, and I'm Jake, and we're from Tonight Alive.
[Guitar and piano play]
[Sings, 'You listening? Are you listening?']
[Cam] I've been vegan for three years now, and when it started I'd literally gone from
just, you know, having full, standard diet, like I didn't really think much about, um,
animal issues at all, and I came across, um, the Earthlings documentary on YouTube, I think
it was, and I was like, 'Oh.'
Like, I watched it, and after that I just completely, um, stopped eating meat and dairy,
cause I was just like, like so kind of taken back by that.
[Jake] I was always exposed to it, like through Cameron being vegan as well. So, it's not
like I wasn't completely ignorant of it.
But, yeah, when we were at Bamboozeled, went over, just picked up a pamphlet, and I was
kind of, just like, 'why not give it a try?'
[Cam] I find, every time I, um, like, I have like a down-patch, like as in like, I get
a bit, um, I find it hard being vegan, like, just read something about it, and it kind
of just gets me back, like passionate about it again.
[Jake] There wasn't any, like, direct influences for me, but, it's always cool to find out
that, like, an, an actor or like a musician that you love is vegan or vegetarian as well.
[Cam] Even if you're not vegetarian, I just think it's worth, nowadays, giving something
else a try, other than just full dairy milk.
Cause, it's like, it's so bad for you, and then dairy animals are just treated like ***.
And, like nowadays, you can just get soy milk, you can get rice milk, oat milk, almond milk,
coconut milk.
There's a million alternatives, they're so cheap, they taste the same. And I'll never,
ever go back to um, to normal milk again.
I think that's a thing that is people stop buying that, that would save a lot of, like,
a lot of lives, that would make a big difference. And, that's not hard.
[Cam] On this tour, we actually picked up a, um, an abandoned puppy, and she had fleas,
and she was pretty much dying.
Like, she was starving, and we brought her onto the bus and gave her a bath, and um,
then we're know, like you know, maybe we should just, like, find a place for her.
We kept her on the bus with us for about two weeks, and it was just awesome like to have,
like, have an animal with us, like a little puppy.
[Jake] Some people may have, have the idea that if you're getting a dog from the pound,
or any sort-of animal from the pound, that it's going to have like a damaged personality,
but it's not the case at all. If you, like, we got Baby, and within an hour of us just
giving her food and water, like her personality was just like completely turned around, and
then after that, she was the most, like, vibrant dog that you ever seen, and she was just,
like, a real, just an honor to be around.
She was, like, incredible.
[Cam] Adopting a dog like her, if she'd gone to the pound, is much better than going to
a pet shop and just picking one out because, like, most of the time those dogs have just,
um, the breeding dogs are kept in cages, and just kept pregnant all year round.
And, it's just disgusting really that you're paying so much money for that.
And everybody loves dogs, and I think the one thing is to extend that to other animals,
you know, I mean to show the respect to all the animals that get used for food.
