(Guitar playing)Hi guys, Drew James here from London high in London.com playing a little short
riff There She Goes by The Las ‘90s classic. I’m just going to show you how to play it.
Very short but a really good warm-up on the left hands.
We are using all fingers even though it’s quite simple or sound simple it’s quite a bit moving around.
A good little warm-up if you like to do riffs as you warm up rather than scales okay. Let’s get started.
You put your middle and third finger last second and third finger or middle and rare finger whatever you want to call them.
you put your thumbs on the third press on the B and E string okay so B and E being fifth and sixth string if you prefer.
Keep your eyes on the third fret. Beginning with the riff with your plectrum you are playing the bottom strings holding down the third fret twice.
Okay and we will talk about a picking pattern in a minute so your turn picking but just for now just play that twice.
Then the next one is the string above also holding down that string okay, with your middle finger.
Then little finger this is where it kind of gets a bit of a stretch a little bit more challenging.
We are stretching the little finger out; we are also holding the shay down.
The fifth frets on the fifth string so they are cancelling out our third finger (plays guitar).
Okay (plays guitar), then return to the third frets on the B string (plays guitar).
Then we put our index finger down on the second frets on the E string and lift up our third finger
(plays guitar) and we play that notes and we play a straight above okay? So [inaudible 0:02:13] (plays guitar)
Okay, then we put the middle finger back down again so don’t take it off too far keep it close (plays guitar) and that’s the end of that first line.
Okay, so it’s (plays guitar) I did [inaudible 0:02:35] a lot I’ll do that careful I’m sure you are going
to be playing it better hand me so it’s (plays guitar) okay.
Then the ending a little bit easier.
We just leave this finger out down this is not here by the way this third fret on our middle finger is what we call a peddle ouster in a riff.
It’s a note that’s repeated so you keep holding down that three throughout that whole riff you never let go, so once your middle finger is there it’s there okay.
We are just changing the bottom string okay and adding in the G in a minute.
Anyway, we are going to do that second line, so we are going to play the bottom string, zero, return to the third fret on the B string see that? [Inaudible 0:03:22].
Okay so there’s (plays guitar). But the ending you are just going to skip with their plectrum and hit the G string a little bit (plays guitar) and then return to that third fret(plays guitar).
Then we can repeat the riff round in a circle.
What’s important when we repeat the riff is we don’t do the three on the finish string twice we just do it once.
(Plays guitar) just once. But the beginning of the song we do play it twice (plays guitar) repeats just as it was.
Okay. Good. So that’s the order of the night.
By the way, if you do want to get the tabs of it just a little bit in the beginning that’s available on our website for free.
All you’ve got to do is just sign up to my newsletter that I send out once a month just giving guitar tips and what I’m up t.
It’s very useful for any beginning guitarist.
Yeah, the tab will be there so you can download it from the student area there’s tons of other videos and tabs and adversarial notes as well.
Okay, so let’s just talk about picking hands. We are doing all turn picking.
Now the thing is a bit kind of funny about all turn picking means down up down up with the plectrum.
But we are starting on an up so we are going up down (plays guitar).
Okay so make sure you [inaudible 0:05:06] me just doing those motions okay and it starts on an up okay on an up. This is important to remember.
Okay, cool so that’s like a little warm-up middle finger and workout there.
Once again as I said this is also available on my website. Take care have fun with your riff CC bye.
