Springtime is here. Summer is right around the corner.
And that means beautiful, golden tans.
But skin cancer is on the rise, and tanning beds can be one of the causes of melanoma.
We'll learn more on this Project Health.

Melanoma is one of the most common and serious skin cancers.
Tanning beds increase the risk of melanoma by using them just one time.
Tanning beds give off ultraviolet radiation, and are associated with increased risk of
skin cancers, specifically melanoma.
Melanoma is the most worrisome and deadly form of skin cancer and the incidence is rising,
especially in young women.
For people who want color in their skin, we recommend using a self tanner. And when out
in the sun to use a sun protection of an SPF thirty or more.
If you're unsure if you have melanoma, see your doctor. If caught early it's highly curable.
