We're here in Staten Island on Alternative Spring Break
We are helping with the disaster relief from the Hurricane Sandy
Today we came and we worked on a home that was mold infested
and what we did was vacuum the walls and ceiling and the floor
and then we sprayed it with chemicals and then we rinsed it
for the killing of the mold process
What we're doing today is we're trying to strip the house down and make
it look like it used to look and we're trying to take all the screws and the nails
and any of the staples out of the walls so it's ready to have the mold wash done
I think what I got out of the trip is a better understanding of who I am as a person
and how I work with people and how I can work with people better and so
coming back to Texas was really nice and I definitely will be drinking sweet tea tonight
but I think I understood how people need help and that if we have a heart for it
that we need to encourage those around us to help to and so I really want
to encourage my friends and people around me to really engage in service around our community
