The debate over water has emerged as a common topic
at this year's Indigenous Contemporary Dance Festival, Atarau
held in Wellington tonight.
This year the festival showcases
performances and stories from North America
and Torres Strait Aboriginals from Australia.
This performance is about us sharing our stories and culture
through dance with the indigenous peoples of America
and also Torres Strait Aboriginals from Australia.
They want to share with the world their story and opinions
of how polluted the world's waterways are becoming.
It's a very deep and personal topic for Dancing Earth
because their elders are sharing with them the stories
of how their rivers, streams and waterways are disappearing
and becoming polluted.
It's been a dream for me to showcase to everyone my aerial dances
made even more important with the music by Tiki Taane.
This is a wonderful showcase for the people of Wellington -
so if you are here,
come on down and see the variety of dance the world has to offer.
