And now it's time for our arts and culture segment with Yim Yoon-hee.
Good afternoon. Today I have a performance...but it's a little bit different to say the least.
However I was pleasantly surprised. It's produced by a very well known and quite decorated Belgium
film producer and director Jaco Van Dormael. He and his wife collaborated to put together
a performance that combines dance, theater, and film.
If I remember correctly, Jaco Van Dormael has been recognized at the Cannes International
Film Festival.
You're absolutely right. His years of experience really shows with the quality of this production,
along with his wife's experience as a choreographer. Let's take a look.
Think you've seen it all? This stage brings a new meaning to interdisciplinary
performance. The huge screen installed on the stage projects
the live recording of the actors...or rather hands...in a surprising performance of past
romances, and the trials and triumphs of life.
Combining theater, dance, and cinematography all in one...the performers here are on the
pioneering edge of show business, going as far as creating miniature stage props to deliver
a more realistic experience.

"The audience will see that it's filmed while simultaneously being performed to create a
vivid and unconventional experience that definitely becomes a memorable one."
The hands are often used as a source of expression, and in this performance, the hands are the
only source. But the cast goes to extra lengths to create the props necessary to set the stage
for a romantic duet.
Created by Belgium director Jaco Van Dormael and his choreographer wife Michele Anne De
Mey, the entire performance is done by their hands.
The couple orginally started this collaboration 10 years ago, when they began creating miniature
scenes, and acting them out with their hands for their children.
After their debut in 2011, they became an international sensation and created this piece
in response. The result is an unexpected love story that
pushes the boundaries of contemporary art.
