Welcome to The Uganik Lake Cabin Only accessible by a 30 minute floatplane flight from the town of Kodiak the cabin is located on the northwest side of Kodiak Island There are 4 sleeping platforms and an oil stove in the cabin The cabin is located on a freshwater lake Because of the possibility of freeze-up use from November 1 to March 31 is strongly discouraged For drinking water a fresh water creek is located 20 yards from the cabin Please remember to always use a water filter or boil your drinking water There are several recreational opportunities available including wildlife viewing and photography, fishing, and hunting August is best for fishing pink salmon While April through November are excellent times to fish for dolly varden There are other fishing opportunities for sockeye salmon during the months of August and September Rainbow trout from June to November and silver salmon from September to October The cabin also makes a good base for bear and deer hunting Hiking opportunities are available but please bring a map and compass since there are no designated trails
