First of all, I would like to ask you all
to do a minute of silence
to honor all those who have lost their lives violently
for all those who have violated their human rights
and all those unjustly imprisoned in Venezuela.
I want to thank all the people who made Comunicas possible
my wife Cristina, my children, Gabriel and Valentina
Enrique Gonzalez, Marisela Valero, Andrea Garrido
Daniel MartÃnez, Erica Mattison, Claire Mulvena
Tom Dodge, my neighbors of Cumbres de Curumo
to all our volunteers and interns of Comunicas
to our partners Ciscuve, Planeta Vital and New View Media,
and all the attendees today
"My only objectives are and will always be
to promote the happiness, liberty and prosperity of my own country
excessively oppressed,"
that's a quote of our hero Fracisco de Miranda
who not only fought the Spanish Empire to free Venezuela
But also fought here against the British to free the United States
Francisco de Miranda is one of our heroes
and was one of the most global Venezuelans in history
I want to send a message to the people of Venezuela
especially to all those inside Venezuela, who are the vast majority.
To all those who resist, who work hard, who are honest, who are innovators
who are building a better country from their homes,
from their communities, together with their neighbors.
I want to all of you in Venezuela: thank you.
Thank you for resisting, thank you for having hope
thank you for inspiring all of us, those inside and those outside the country.
Thank you for believing that you can, despite all the difficulties
corruption, the information war, the bad government,
and the interests of the powerful that are against the interests of the people.
Comunicas will stick with you
to help you raise your voice from the neighborhoods
to help you exercise your freedom of speech and thought.
To help you create bridges and points in common among you,
that in the end
regardless of your political ideas, your socioeconomic position, your race,
or the faith you profess,
you are all Venezuelans and the vast majority wants a better country for you and your children.
Always remember that we - the Venezuelans- are a beautiful people,
diverse
the product of a deep ethnic mix,
we are one of the most educated people in the world,
we have a very rich culture and a wonderful history.
No tyranny will succeed in breaking our spirit of liberty!
