Hello again,
it's good to be back with you.
This is my final
presentation.
As you know, this course is called
Social Entrepreneurship:
A Grass Roots
Revolution.
And today I'd like to share a few final comments
and then say goodbye.
Before I say goodbye, I would like to share
what I've attempted to do in this course.
I want to be a part of a revolution of good things.
I have put together this MOOC
because of the
unbelievable opportunity
that I have,
that you have,
that all of us have, in our world today,
to help categories of people in need.
to help categories of people in need.
Every direction we turn
there is opportunity, we see people in need.
When many people step forward to help others in need,
they are building a culture of caring
within their nation.
When you and I step forward
to start just one small
social entrepreneurship project
we are strengthening our nation.
We are doing good. We are helping others. We are making
our nation stronger.
I believe that
when we make,
when each of us in our own nation
makes our nation stronger,
we are cumulatively making
our world stronger.
There are tremendous opportunities for us
and in certain parts of the world
there even greater opportunities
then others.
The third sector
of the economy
that civic sector,
that non-profit sector,
will be exploding
in several very important nations
around our world.
We literally change the world...
We literally change the world...
one small piece at a time.
Here are the main issues I addressed in this course:
Discussion of the peaceful social entrepreneurship revolution
that is happening around us now.
Discussion about what social entrepreneurship is
and a few of my thoughts about life.
Examples of social entrepreneurship projects in different parts of the world.
Examples of social entrepreneurship projects in different parts of the world.
A scale to help us see strengths and weaknesses
in our project ideas.
And the project development report, a professional document that requires you to
formalize
every important aspect
of your project.
Some final
"what now" suggestions
were also provided that may help you be successful.
This course is simply an early step for you.
Of course,
what we have done in this course can only be the start.
But I hope that this has been
an important beginning for you.
I hope that you have
generated and increased spark inside of you to actually start a social
entrepreneurship project.
Social entrepreneurship involves hard work.
All good ideas will not be successful.
The future is uncertain for us
regardless
of the path that we choose.
If you go down the social entrepreneurship path,
please be careful.
Please go slowly.
Please take smart steps.
And please, start small.
I don't want to leave
these presentations. I'm enjoying
speaking with you very much but
it is time for the course to end.
If you are interested in social entrepreneurship
I would like for you
to perhaps consider
taking our online,
one or more of our online, distance
courses on social entrepreneurship
at my university.
Also, about a year ago
we started a masters degree program that is
totally focused
on social entrepreneurship.
Although there is amazing social entrepreneurship opportunity on every
continent,
the greatest growth in the next several decades
will be
in Asia,
South America,
and Africa.
If i have the opportunity
to attend
a social entrepreneurship conference in another country,
and possibly meet you,
that would be very nice.
One of the frustrating aspects of
this format for classes
is that
I do not have the opportunity to interact
directly with
the students.
Maybe we will meet each other someday,
if so, I would enjoy that
very much.
I want to thank you very much for
being a part of this course.
I would rather not say goodbye
but I must,
and so,
may we each do what we can
to make our world
a better world.
Thank you very much.
Farewell
