The Desmosedici engine is fast. The power for us is not where we’re lacking.
So we need to work on the drivability And at the first touch, making it smoother.
We have a limitation of 5 engines for the whole season, which is 18 races,
so having a lubricant that is able to give reliability to our engine,
which is super high performance, is really important.
It is a challenge for both of us, Shell and Ducati, to bring on the track a very fuel efficient, very high revving engine,
which, on the other side, should endure and be reliable.
The MotoGP engine is essentially the most extreme operating environment and test platform for our oil formulations,
so proving them under those circumstances and conditions is an invaluable tool for our development activities.
The engineers tell me certain lubricants make the engines last longer, and I know,
when I only get 5 engines, I need the lubricant to make the engines last long, making the power I expect.
