anybody that knows Alan Gray
knows that he takes his work seriously
and that he's relentless in the pursuit of perfection
Alan made the Toasty Top a really terrific a little Vape
and he's been studying the tube
and
gone through
many many changes
i feel very proud to have evaluated
some of these tubes and gotten to look
right now you see me working with one of the final
models of his
tube, and its
got the long tip on it but i'm about to put a short tip on it
and you will see
the actual
final production model of the tube he is using right now
every time he sends you tubes
he sends you every type of screen that you might be able to use with it but not
only that includes silicone and varying lengths of slip over
tips so that you can
change things around an experiment a little
few more the tubes this is his original
towards the end
he sent me tips to make the original longer .....you see
that original
the original fits right down into the toasty top nicely and i still use it
very often i liked it a lot
but there were a lot of changes in between
the very first original
and the end and you see the changes here
and you see an interesting one with a little red band to the left of the
screen and that's all there are about to take a look at that
you see
that was
his next design
using
different piece
of silicone ... you see some of the silicon pulling off the tip
well that's what seals it against the heat port
and there's a ring of silicone there to help you seal it if you use a downstem on a ***
as you see here
now we're gonna start taking a peek at the sandwich type of
tube that he's come up with
what you see here
can be removed and i can actually make it
not the sandwich type and put one of the original
tips on you'll see me doing that right now
but i'm going to explain the concept behind the sandwich piece
that in my left hand could be used
and then you take it apart
to change
to empty the weed out of it
you can spin it around and put it in the other way
okay so you've got a thing here with the screen in the dead center
all right
being held in sandwiched
by that actual silicone
and there we dump the weed and we put it in backwards
an Alan's concept here
was to make it so that no side got a chance to build up too much
okay
that was an interesting one to experiment with
okay here's the underdog style that he made
he put a beautiful piece of glass
into a silicone and he used the glass as a backstop
for that screen
here we come
closer to his end designs still using the sandwich type you see how it moves
when I push with my finger
okay
and
of there is
the sandwich design with the lilac wood
here is the final one
this is getting very close to the finished
product
he started out a little bit long but using the technique see how it sets
in there
it doesn't quite make this seal using the shorter piece he sent
here we go
there it is it'ssits perfectly
and there's the variety of tips of that size
and that brings us to the end
result
that brings us now
to the very finished
product
the right size for that
and now I am going to change out my Lilac
stem
and i'm gonna
put the right size short tip
on there
and that brings us to the finished product uh... this is the most beautiful
stem around i'm gonna show if you would offer a few seconds here up close that
you can really get a good look at it because the colors on it are remarkable
Alan found this
in an old dead Lilac Bush
found the branch
and decided to make a stem He makes stems from
piano keys and anything else that you can find around so watch your
wood piles guys
and here is my favorite
stem from the toasty top
in it's finished form
Thanks Alan... you have been a great pal
letting me help evaluate
and I appreciate everything you do for Vaporists!
