Hey Northside, Sam O’Brien here, and we’ve got a special edition of StarCast for you
this week.
North High is the home of the Stars, and that makes us all North Stars. We’ve heard this
a million times before, but sometimes we forget its significance. Our mascot isn’t random—it
says something about who we are.
The stars are the most powerful force in the universe. They produce explosions so insanely
titanic that they can be seen billions upon billions of light years away. Here’s how
powerful they are: If we covered our entire planet with our most powerful nuclear warheads
and continuously exploded them, every second, for a billion years, the sum total of that
energy would be nowhere close to what a star can release in a single second. Stars are
powerful…and we are stars.
Stars are also full of potential and possibility. Stars create within themselves the building
blocks of our universe, atoms…atoms forged billions of years ago deep within the hearts
of the hottest and brightest stars ever created. As these stars took their dying breaths, they
exploded, releasing these atoms where they would go on to become moons and planets, water
and trees, and even you and me. We literally are stars. And like the stars before us, we
are full of potential; bursting with promise and possibility.
That’s what it means to be a star. We’re more powerful than we can imagine and carry
limitless potential and possibility. Remember that. When we walk through these doors, when
we put on the uniform and lace up, when we take the field, step onto the court, walk
onto the stage, stand at the starting line, remember…we are full of power and possibility.
This is North High…home of the Stars.
