Fifty chickens on a poulty farm in Yilan County were killed by a group of vengeful monkeys,
according to a farmer.
The monkeys were known to frequently enter the farm and steal poultry feed.
The farmer used fireworks to scare them away.
Stray dogs also broke in and killed chickens. In response, the farmer decided to set up
2-foot-high fences around the farm.
A couple days ago, while he and his son patrolling the farm, they found 20 dead chickens piled
up.
Then they found another pile of 30 dead chickens the next day.
The monkeys were sitting on the trees and watching.
The dead chickens had their necks broken, with wounds caused by animal bites.
The farmer said the monkeys were upset with the fences so they killed chickens and piled
them up to provoke him.
However, animal specialists said the chickens could have been scared to death by the presence
of the monkeys.
The farmer will set up electric fences to keep the primates out.
He has claimed a war on the monkeys.
