One thing that I love about Park Sora is her hair. It's so casually perfect and voluminous
and totally modelesque. Today I'm going to be doing a tutorial for her messy voluminous
waves that she wears so well.
Instead of using a hair furler, I'm going to be doing this without applying any damaging
heat.
Let's start.
Start with just washed hair that is 50% dry. If your hair is dry, you can use a spritz
bottle with some hair product to dampen your hair. Work some wax or holding product into
your damp hair. It's important to have a side part for this hairstyle.
Now take the front section of your hair and twist it outwards/clockwise so that it creates
the "flip" in your hair. Twist it about 1/3 of the way down and then plait it so it becomes
way towards the bottom. After you have plaited it, twist the strand of hair and create a
bun and clip it. This creates both the zigzag waves as well as a twirly wave, making it
voluminous.
Continue to do the to the rest of your hair in sections. I separated the top and bottom
of my hair at the point just above my ears. Separating them helps you plait tighter towards
your scalp. Remember that the thicker your hair section, the bigger your waves, so plait
smaller sections of hair if you want smaller waves, and take larger sections of hair for
larger waves. Again when you finished plaiting them, twist them up into a bun and pin them
into place with a bobby pin or clip. When you finished, it's time to just wait for it
to dry.
So now that it's dry carefully take out each section. Gently work the plaits out with your
fingers, so you don't separate them too much. With the front section, to promote volume
at the crown You can lift up the section and spray hairspray underneath to hold it up and
tease it a bit as well underneath. I sprayed the underside of the hair so that it looks
like it has more volume. Also if your hair is stubborn your can use some hair spray and
scrunch your hair with your hands to help it keep the waves more.
Now to finish off the look, use your hands and pull your hair to one side, over your
shoulders and twist the ends together with your hands. Use your fingers to lift up the
hair at the top of your hair to create more volume at the top.
And we're done!
The most important part of this look, is really how your hair is flipped over at the front.
The more volume you can achieve, the better this hairstyle will look. The beauty of this
hairstyle is also in it's ability to just look naturally free and casual, so don't worry
too much about it looking neat. The more carefree and messy it looks the sexier ;).
Play with your hair with your fingers and twirl it around during the day to keep your
waves fresh, and try and remember to keep pulling all your hair to one side to keep
the sexy one sided look happening.
Don't forget to pair this look with a smile.
