Hello and welcome to The Show,
I'm Denise Van Outen, and Spring is finally in the air, hurrah!
So it's time to brush away those cobwebs and refresh your home,
and I've just the lady for the job to give you the best tips, Jane Akers.
Hello, [Denise] Jane, so nice to see you again
really nice to see you too.
So this really is the perfect time of year, isn't it, to revamp the inside of your home.
Absolutely, it's all about flinging open your doors and bringing the outside in
and creating a lovely botanical theme in your home.
But if you don't want to dress your home in lots of fresh flowers
Matalan does a fantastic range of faux plants.
There's this lovely Cactus Plant,
which is £18 and really looks the real deal.
It's lovely as a centrepiece on your coffee table,
or on your hearth round the fire, or on your mantelpiece.
And the cactus has become really trendy hasn't it, to have it in your home?
[Jane] It's really trendy yeah.
Another idea is to put them in a Terranium,
Matalan does a lovely gold frame Terranium.
It looks really contemporary, £20, and makes a really nice indoor garden in your home.
The botanical look is huge this year,
so we are talking about it a lot in the magazine at the moment.
So is there anything else we can add to the mix to make it look different indoors?
It's nice to have matalic finishes in your home because it reflects light around at this time
of year, making it feel brighter. Another piece that's really nice
is this Rex Crome Tripod Lamp in the corner £180.
Really lovely contemporary piece, nice metalic finish again.
This is actually a real feature to have in your home.
It's a proper statement piece, yeah, it says 'wow'.
It's so important, isn't it, to get the lighting right?
Exactly lighting is everything, but like I was saying, it's also about mixing up the textures.
So another nice thing is this lovely Mossy Knit Cushion.
[Denise] Well you know I love a cushion.
Oh Yeah.
I am all about the dress cushion.
We have talked about cushions lots before, love cushions and there so easy to replace.
This is £12.
Feels fantatsic, looks really nice as well and works in with the botanical theme
because of this nice sagey green, which is a big trend this year too.
Really nice, the sage green and the light pinks which I really love.
Just mixing everyhting together.
Absolutely that's what it's about, the sage green, the blush pink against the grey.
So what else can we add to the home?
I love this Black Leggy Planter as I like to call it.
It's got lovely this metal legs and it means that you can make a statement out of your plants.
Whether they're real or faux. And put it anywhere in the room.
Absolutely, your eye would definitely be drawn to it. It looks fantastic.
Thank you Jane, for your Spring tips to refresh your home.
[Jane] My pleasure. [Denise] It's been fantatsic.
And you can shop all of these looks instore and online, there is no excuse.
