Here's an email from a long time customer. They are about to buy a brand new car. And
they want to keep it 'forever.' Well, what is that going to take to keep it forever?
It's no longer about just changing oil. Modern cars today require inspections and evaluations
of every system. Here we have a mid 2000's F-150 and the owner should get a couple of
hundred thousand miles out of it with regular maintenance. Your manufacturer and owners
manual has a laundry list of things that every Woodstock GA auto repair shop should be looking
at when you go into your service. Let me show you what we got. This is a 40 year old british
sports car manufactured by Triumph. Now they have been out of business since 1981. This
vehicle has 300,000 miles on it. But this car is driven on a regular basis and is down
from North Carolina on a business trip. So it's not about changing out 5 quarts of oil.
It's about checking all of the systems in your car. How long should my car last? Let
me ask you a question. If you find a car and the owner has every record of every maintenance
repair they ever done, are you going to be excited about buying that car? Absolutely!
You know how well it was maintained. So if you have a car, keep your own records. And
when you get ready to trade it in or sell it, you're going to get more money for it.
