I am happy to see this day finally arrive
public this is your pier
stroll out enjoy the view
make use of it in a full way
as the years pass
there will be many many wonderful functions here
either hosted by
a municipality, an agency
an entity of government, or in fact you
you may choose to have a birthday party, a bar mitzvah, a wedding reception, a wedding
who knows
but it's a wonderful facility and it was designed to accomplish just that, to have that kind
of versatility
it's lovely yeah because when people get here they immediately have experience of the city
which I think is valuable
I'm glad to see it. We need more cruise ships coming into San Diego
and the art and the look will give a really great first impression of southern California
It's got a nice feel, upbeat, happy
The Port has done a tremendous job
they've given us something that San Diegans deserve
they included the public in the process, they were very responsive
I think we have a space now that's going to be used for so many different events in
it'll serve our cruise industry but also serve the citizens of san diego
and the region as they want to come down and do a lot of things on this waterfront
what you have created here today is a is a wonderful interaction and my introduction
is to the number of ports we come to, we operate from
is this a very
special
very interactive facility that works very well with the city
you are still a waterfront city
so here combining the city combining the waterfront make it a win-win to all users, a wonderful
idea and we congratulate you for doing that it's a wonderful idea to call it a pavilion
so it's really not a port and it's not a terminal
and and and it's wonderful how it came out. On behalf of SDG&E I just want to
say
congratulations to the Port
an outstanding project and as Commissioner Bixler mentioned you know this is the LEED certified
uh... facility and and while some people might not say it looks beautiful on the outside it's beautiful
on the inside and I think you really have to pay attention to look at all the
features in here and being a LEED certified building means that it is one of the most
environmentally friendly buildings in the world
and that's something to be very proud of
another unique feature
of this facility
is the public artwork
internationally known artist and lighting designer Leni Schwendinger
designed the large-scale artwork on the front of the building
title
Radiance
it's the only one of its kind in the world
this is again for Leni not only a unique
and site-specific design
the technology
is very cutting edge
