[pause] >>Harrison: Hi, I'm Matt Harrison, president
of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. I'm just ready to hop in the car and drive up
to Ft Wayne for the Council of President's Meeting where students who are graduating
from the seminary will be placed in their first calls, so that's a joyous occasion.
I’m looking forward to that very much.
But we have a lot of sad news with the disasters, of course. Last week there were horrible tornados
that struck Mapleton, Iowa, and caused a great deal of devastation and now especially Alabama
is struck.
What we know at the moment is that apparently all of our LCMS members are safe, but many
Missouri Synod people have had their homes damaged, and there have been a number of congregations
and schools that have sustained damage.
We're on it; we're ready to help. Glenn Merritt is on his way down, I believe tomorrow, to
spend time with pastors and members in their challenged areas, and we've already made available
some funds that will begin to assist.
We need your help. We always need your help. Would you go to LCMS.org and look for news
on these storms and for opportunities to give? The funds for tornado assistance are depleted.
We've got some funding for flooding, etc., but for especially tornados we need help with.
God bless you and have a very blessed Easter and, as Jesus said when He appeared to His
disciples, "Peace be with you."
