Looking for a lightweight Umbrella stroller that is suitable from Newborn and comes with
bonus accessories. Well today I'm reviewing the Maclaren Techno XLR Elite 2012 Model the
full-featured buggy. So stay tuned.
Suitable from Birth up to 20kgs the Techno xlr Elite weighs in at 9.29kgs, it's made
of a high performance aluminum frame covered by highly durable fabric. It comes with some
great accessories and a nice roomy, padded seat.
Let's start with the handles. Something you don't see in many Umbrella strollers,
is adjustable handles, these handles are also ergonomically optimised handles so they do
feel comfortable. To adjust push this button here to move them
up or down ,you have three heights, and you have to do it one side at a time.
The handles are a really great height and you don't feel like your hunched over like
you do on some smaller umbrella strollers.
The dimensions of the pram fully assembled are
Lowest height 109.5cm Handle extended 110.5cm
80cm long 55cm wide
To fold the pram it can be done with one hand. Push red leaver up with your foot and step
on the smaller side lever to complete the unlocking of the pram.
Fold in half and the automatic lock should lock the pram in the folded position.
The folded dimensions are 108cm long
33cm wide 32cm high
It has a handle on the side here to help carry or load it into your car.
It has a free-standing fold if you turn it over so could be handy when storing it away.
Because of its length, we could not get this into our toyota Yaris as our small car, however
we have it being folded into a larger sedan Toyota Camry.
To Unfold just unhook the locking latch and push down with your foot on the leaver and
your ready to go.
The suncanopy is water resistant hood with 2 panels.
You can upzip the back section for the 2nd panel and you can lock the sunhood open by
engaging these two side arms. You can also slide the canopy up or down the
frame to make sure your baby gets better coverage. There is a Tinted, UV protected peekaboo window
on top to look at baby however it does not have a cover. The hood also has a tinted extension
you can pull down for extra sun protection & reflective detailing on the sides.
There is a large pocket on the back of the sun hood that has two sections to it, a smaller
internal mesh pocket is great for storing you keys and phone for quick access and the
larger pocket holds quite a bit.
The seat has a 4 position one-hand recline and to recline you just pull up on this leaver
here to drop it down a level, 2,3,4 and the same action to bring the seat
to the full upright position. The seat can not be reversed so baby can face you.
Another bonus, You can also buy a carseat adapter and use this with the compatible car
capsule so it makes it a full travel system
To engage the break, its foot operated linked brakes, and to take the break off you just
flip it up, it is thong or Jandels friendly.
The Drivability, the Techno xlr likes the well paved and concert paths and it has a
nice tiny turning circle. However like most umbrella strollers you cant go jogging with
it or over that rougher terrain but the front and rear suspension does help cut down some
of those bumps.
It has a 5 point padded harness, which has 3 heights. To change heights you do have to
re-thread the harness. The clasp is really strong and secure and
you release by pushing the button at the back and the front at the same time and it pops
open. The revers just to do it back up.
The seat dimensions 47cm high
63cm Cm high to canopy 40cm wide
The legrest has 2 positions and can be locked up or down to extend or unclip underneath
to fold it down, so it's 21.6cm deep & Extends out to 39.4cm
there is a plastic foot rest for your taller children.
The seat fabrics are removable to wash and when you buy the Techno XLR elite you also
get a extra plush padded seat liner with removable head protector and a nice padded footmuff
or boot.
The storage on the Techno xlr is a little on the small side and access to the basket
is also for smaller objects only. The maximum weight for the storage basket is 3kgs.
When the seat is fully reclined access objects in the basket itself.
As mentioned the Techno xlr elite comes with 4 wheel suspension and has 4 sets of double
tires which are 16.5cm diameter hard, rubber tires. Some nice detailing is the reflectors
on the tires. The front wheels are swivel wheels and can
be locked to help tackle some rougher terrain, when you push down the gray lever, and to
unlock its a revers of the action to make it swivel again.
Maclaren have a full range of accessories available to the Techno xlr Elite, and here
