Beginning with Simrad founder Willie Simonson, one of a handful of Norwegian engineers to
work with new naval technology during the second world war.
Using his knowledge and expertise Simonson made radiophones for the fishery fleet, and
created the first echo sounder for commercial use in 1950. Technology fisherman relied on
to communicate, to get the job done, and to get back home again.
