GWEN SHAMBLIN: You can overcome through Christ. I am just thrilled to be here. And excited
about this day in November. we have such a lineup and it is such an exciting time to
be able to talk to people from around the world. In fact I want to list really quickly
the countries that are on and have been on over the last 4 weeks: Argentina, Australia,
Austria, The Bahamas, Canada, Columbia, France, India is tuning in, Ireland and Ireland said
to say hello. There is a guy named Grady there, Bridal Grady and then she has been overcoming
she said. Israel is tuned in, Japan Kenya, Latvia, and then there is Moocow, People’s
Republic of China, Malaysia, Mali, and lots of YouTube hits this last week from Malta,
we had thousands of hits from there, Netherlands, New Zeeland, Nigeria, Norway, The Philippines,
Porto Rico, Hello to Russia, Federation; and then I also want to say, “hello” to Vira
in Moscow, she has lost 36 pounds and still going; there is South Africa, Spain, Sweden,
United Arab Immigrants and The Untied Kingdom, and of course The United States. Praise God
for everybody that is joining us from around the world, it is amazing. This is amazing;
continue to pray for the progress of this, as there were around 13,000 hits in the last
24 hours. So we are very excited about that, and I pray that the Saints from everywhere
will continue to find out how through Jesus Christ to overcome. Because there has so much
misunderstanding about Jesus Christ, about God, and I can testify that when you do find
the right door to go through that it is life transforming and it is amazing.
Today, co hosting today and helping me through this show today is David Martin. Let us welcome
him on, and praise God for David Martin who is one of the dearest friends and has been
around for how many years now? DAVID MARTIN: 13 and a half.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: You met David, of course last week he was on co-hosting while I was away.
Tell them, you have a tech tip to start with. DAVID MARTIN: Yes, absolutely. Everyone has
been responding with overwhelming positive reviews of the first 3 episodes so far. And
if you want to go back and watch and rewatch and rewatch and rewatch, we are encouraging
you to do that. There is 2 ways you can do that: you can go to Remnantfellowship.tv,
Remnantfellowship.tv and all the episodes will be posted right there including this
one pretty soon after the episode finishes we will upload it there. You can also go to
YouTube, that is www.youtube.com/gwenshamblin and that will take you to Gwen’s YouTube
channel where you will see all the episodes that have been featured before.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: And Candace said that if you put a space between Gwen and Shamblin you
would not find it. That is how tricky it is. And that is why David is on here making sure
get that. So it is just a full—no spaces. DAVID MARTIN: www.youtube.com/gwenshamblin
No breaks, no spaces. And you will find not just this one but the first 3 episodes as
well. So www.youtube.com/gwenshamblin, Remnantfellowship.tv watch them, rewatch them, rewatch them they
can be your ways of escape in more ways than one.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: Comments that came in this week said they were rewatching them. And because
of that, (thank you for your comments by the way) thank you thank you, thank you, thank
you thank you. And even though sometimes it is not an immediate response back, trust me
I am reading them and we are trying to respond back to everybody. It is amazing how many
people from just last weeks show said that they were breaking through—and actually
the first two. What is going on out there? It is exciting, so send in your before and
you after’s from this “Overcome” TV show would be very exciting.
DAVID MARTIN: Absolutely, in fact one Lisa said that the “Plateau” show was the key
it was the clicker for her, she had been stuck for awhile; she lost 6 pounds this past week
and she said, “I got it. I got it.” Praise God. That was Lisa.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: Hey listen, go back to our chairs and let us read a few more of these
comments that have been coming in. We are trying to categorize them a little bit. And
other positive response? DAVID MARTIN: A different Lisa, “I am thrilled
to go all the way letting the suffering of Christ”(which you talk about in the “Plateau”
show last week) “letting the suffering of Christ and the life of Christ be what I do,
that was the best one yet. Powerful, thank you so much.”
GWEN SHAMBLIN: I am looking for Positive responses. Katie: “Watched “Overcome Breaking Through
Plateau’s” this morning, inspired to not be content with 55 pounds down, rather keep
going and see where God is leading me.” That is fun. 55 is good too and keep going,
Katie. That is awesome. Got a MaryAnn: “Just got through watching
show I have struggled but I believe I can overcome through Jesus Christ. It was a great
message.” This encourages me; it encourages all of us as you continue. These posts have
not been removed have they David from the? DAVID MARTIN: I do not believe so.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: Ok so, the posts are there so that you can go back and read the posts.
DAVID MARTIN: And add to them, too. Here is Wendy, Wendy says “Thank you” to you,
Gwen. “Thank you for all your good works, Gwen, wonderful example.” She says specifically:
“I like your challenge to being close to God but on a plateau and bringing out how
suffering while waiting for God’s lead is something that you love. You change what you
have loved.” You have gone over that not just last week but the first two weeks as
well. “It helped me remember that wonderful feeling of waiting for God. And I know that
while I am not currently there I m going to get there.” That is Wendy.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: Wendy, Praise God. And I want to thank you guys for listening through Romans
this past week; that was amazing to me that there was that many hits going on. Apparently
if you put this in your local newspaper that can help with getting the word out. And you
know that is a part of our responsibility and it is God’s good pleasure for us to
help get the good new out. So, put it in your local newspaper and then maybe from there
it takes off. Make it clear on how to get to it. I did not know that there were other
“Remnants” out there; but there is a Remnant, this is Remnant Fellowship. I think that is
where even I will forget to type it in and the next thing you know… You type in the
“Fellowship” and you will get there. So let us go to questions this past week.
I have tried to categorize some of these. I have got a Donna in Missouri and Audrey
in Wichita, Cory (no location), how to let go of dieting mentality; certain foods, amounts,
times of day, exercise, mixing low carbs with Weigh Down, how to let go. It actually is
going to be an entire show (not that I want you to wait till that show) but just very
quickly can I tell you that it is a very wrong. I hope that encourages you; it is not just
a little bit wrong. There is man-made rules will have no value it says in Colossians 3:21
zero value in restraining the sensual indulgence. And I am going to go on to say not only does
it have no value it will actually increase your head-hunger. Dieting increases your head-hunger;
it is why you cannot break through. So if you will make sure to look through Candace
and the guys back at Weigh Down will be advertising when that episode will be coming, but it will
be coming soon. DAVID MARTIN: That is definitely a part of
my testimony. When I started gaining weight, just for that part of it (dieting and all
of that) in high school I started—actually I was overweight as a child—a middle schooler—and
then I lost a bunch of weight going into high school. Them gained 40 pounds, then lost 40
pounds, then gained 40 pounds, and I was always counting calories and getting in that set
amount of exercise. And I was always ping-ponging up and down, up and down, counting calories,
this food is good, that food is bad; this food is good, that food is bad. And like you
have always taught from the very beginning of Weigh Down it only increased my focus on
myself, my body, on eating. It only increased the desire to eat even more, so then you work
harder to get it off, and then you eat more and then you work harder to get it off; it
is a never ending—you have always called it a yo-yo cycle. And even some of the questions
that came in described that. GWEN SHAMBLIN: Well it has been called that;
I am going to call it the pit-cycle. Because it is worse than a yo-yo. You have a hard
time coming back up anymore. DAVID MARTIN: There is no peace in it; you
are never done with self-focus. It is a constant never ending cycle of self-focus. And believe
me, I have lived it. But now having been free these 13 and a ½ years of that, I do not
even have to think about it anymore, but it makes the eating occasion so much more enjoyable,
so much more enjoyable because it is always with in God’s boundaries. I do not have
to think about it; I am not dreaming about it ahead of time. I know I am not going to
overeat because I know what that feels like; stopping even a little bit short of full feels
so much better. Your body feels good all day, you do not have start good in the morning,
overeat and feel bad in the afternoon. Wait for the growl, get all the way down to empty
and then overeat once again. Ping pong, ping pong, it is just not worth it. Weigh Down
is definitely for guys. Hope there are some men out there watching.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: Absolutely! DAVID MARTIN: Because the men, (I feel like)
tend to just accept –guys that I went to college with and stuff, I ran into them here
recently in town –it is almost like laughed at or laughed off and accepted that you are
going to, “Oh yeah, when you get married you are going to put on your 30 or 40 pounds:
fat and happy”, just a total disregard for God’s body. Total disregard for being the
man and looking like God wants you to look and taking care of the temple and the vessel
that He has given you; taking care of the mind that He has given you. It is like guys
get out of school and they start working and they get married and they just completely
just let themselves go, and not even just for personal reasons but for God, for God.
And I was definitely that guy and was headed further down that path until 1998 when--praise
God--I came to Weigh Down. And my first thing that I went though was the “Exodus from
Strongholds” class. GWEN SHAMBLIN: And you never looked back.
This week we are talking about being dedicated. The one thing I can say about David Martin
is that he had the heart to be able to go in there and say I am doing this and I am
not going backwards. And you went the right direction.
DAVID MARTIN: I cannot imagine. GWEN SHAMBLIN: There was someone you were
talking about there was a struggle on there (while you are getting that thought) but there
was one other question you had; I know you read it to me earlier. About someone that
was DAVID MARTIN: …overwhelmed by so much to
lose, yes. I will read that in a second. If I can just tell you in as few words as possible
I am someone who was raised very religiously, very conservatively, was on the church pew
from the time I was born—literally the week I was born I think I was at church—and I
had in my lists my own personal list of the sins that I was not going to commit: I was
not going to lie, cheat, steal, do drugs. Check, check, check, check (as he pretends
to check off his list), and be at church every time the doors were open. And I had sins that
I did not know that I had until they were pointed out to me through this teaching of
Weigh Down; I did not know that I was greedy for food (I thought it was just natural to
be 30 to 40 pounds overweight and everybody is just made differently, ‘God does not
care about that’ and I was going to church all the time. Also I did not know that I had
pride, and I did not know that I had an anti authority spirit inside of me, I did not necessarily
defy my bosses or my teachers to their face, but behind their backs I am rolling my eyes.
I have got a better idea; they do not know what they are talking about. And so I did
not even know that was wrong; I just thought that was just what you do.
And then there was the one that I have always felt guilt about, I went through all my teen
age years with the guilt of just having an unclean mind; having *** in the heart and
the mind. And I had never been able to lay that down to overcome that. I even went to
ministers and youth ministers and friends and “I feel bad all the time; you know I
feel bad.” And every time, every one of them with out exception patted me on the back
and told me what a good guy I was in all these other areas, and “that is just what happens
with guys.” “Look, but do not touch.” And I am here to tell you that that is a lie;
that is a lie from the pit of hell. GWEN SHAMBLIN: Absolutely!
DAVID MARTIN: And through this teaching which first even showed me that I had greed and
pride I was--in 1998 for the very first time--able to fight that and lay it down completely.
And I am here to tell you guys—because most of you out there have probably been through
this or are currently going through this, and plenty of the ladies too, I a sure. You
can and you have got to overcome it. You have got to understand that it is a fight though,
it is a fight; you have got to fight like you want to win, fight like you want to do
it. Like Gwen talked about last week, you have got to change what your love is, you
have got to change what your “want to” is. And I think you (Gwen) did it in episode
2 as well, you have got to change what you love. Finally I started loving not thinking
that way. Loving my eyes not going that way. And when I started loving it like you (Gwen)
have taught and applying the same things that you teach about food, and you taught through
strongholds about every kind of addiction it was conquered by God’s Spirit, and through
this message. I can tell you and I have never read (I have read a lot of so-called ‘christian’
material, listened to a lot of speakers, been around a lot of churches in my life), and
I have never heard anyone say is clearly, accurately. In fact what I hear, what I grew
up hearing was the exact opposite. With people telling me, “No, no, no, you are ok.”
“You are being too *** yourself”, “Lighten up, dude.”
And no, that is wrong. That is so wrong. And so I praise God; it literally not only saved
me personally but it save what I probably would have been a really bad husband, and
driven my wife away, and definitely not a good father. But instead, because of this
I have the opposite of all that. GWEN SHAMBLIN: Beautiful family, I do not
know if there is a shot of David Martin and his wife and his 5 children, it is unbelievable.
Unbelievably blessed, if we do not have it this week we can get it another week. It is
doable. Half of this has been you are kidding yourself if you have got a choice.
Jesus tightened it all up saying, “Moses said you cannot commit adultery, but I am
telling you something even more strictly.” “You cannot even—if you *** after somebody
in the heart then you have committed adultery and no adulterer’s can make it to heaven.”
You do not have a choice; you stop it and stop it now. And you start your life over.
And that is exactly what you (David Martin) did, you went that direction and I think everybody
is learning how hard you have to fight and how dedicated you have to be is the thing.
And so what was the? DAVID MARTIN: Yes, this question here from
in Chicago, Kim in Dallas, Laurie in Ohio, Monica in Ohio, Amanda in California and also
Susie: Combination here, people who have lost weight doing Weigh Down in years past, but
they have gotten away from it, the pull to food is so strong, not motivated anymore,
and most importantly (this is what stuck out to me) anybody who is overwhelmed by the amount
of weight they need to lose and they do not feel like they can ever get there so why even
start? Overwhelmed by the amount. GWEN SHAMBLIN: Oh, well, I want to help all
of you guys. And the way we are going to do that today, we have a special guest today,
who has lost 257 pounds. His wife has lost 300--so you have probably heard of them—through
Weigh Down. But they have been on a lot of media, there is a 4 minute video clip of his
life and we are going to have him on here in just a few minutes, but watch this; it
will encourage you.
VIDEO CLIP OF ANDY SORRELLS
GWEN SHAMBLIN: Let us welcome Andy on; come on up, Andy! Praise God for you guys. Oh my
goodness, thank you, thank you for turning to God. This is amazing and you have kept
that weight off. You are obviously a tall fellow here.
DAVID MARTIN: Matt Lauer asked him “3 years later”, you saw that was 2006 this is 5
years later. GWEN SHAMBLIN: 5 years later. Ok, well have
a seat here and we will talk about the necessary ingredients for us to do this. So what year
was it when you first came to Weigh Down? ANDY SORRELLS: Right at the beginning of 2003.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: 2003. And then, I remember (I am not sure if it was said on that video
or not) but that you got weight off once you made a decision the weight came off, tell
us about that. ANDY SORRELLS: Once I learned the basics of
greed for food was sin; I was being gluttonous, that put a fear in me that, wow I have got
this wrong for so long, my whole life, “Please, God, let me get it right.” And you know
I carried that into every week and every day and every meal; just praying, “God please
show me what to do, how much I need, (not how much I want)”. Literally I would stop
during a meal, not to make a show out of it or anything, but just under my breath, just
praying and looking for God’s Spirit, how much was needed. And it quickly came off doing
that, just turning to God in everything. And I still do that (that is what keeps it off)
praying more and more just wanting more and more of God. It came off quick; it came off
in 17 months I lost 250 plus pounds. GWEN SHAMBLIN: 250 plus pounds! I mean we
are talking about a lifestyle change of a decision that food was no longer going to
be your everything. ANDY SORRELLS: Oh yeah.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: Because it was filling up your day. How many hours a day do you think was
spent on thinking about what you were going to eat, or cooking it or going after it prior
to Weigh Down? ANDY SORRELLS: Thinking about it was constant.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: In the night? Were you one of those in the night people?
ANDY SORRELLS: Oh, yes, I would come home late, stay up late and that was my time. Everyone
else is in bed and that is me and the food; that was my time.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: And now what do we do with our nights?
ANDY SORRELLS: We sleep, we pray. GWEN SHAMBLIN: That is what I do.
ANDY SORRELLS: If God wakes me up I pray. GWEN SHAMBLIN: I like that one. Yes God, my
whole night is God. My whole night is God (I cannot even tell you). I do not care where
I am; it did not matter. I was on that hospital bed last night, poor Brandon was on the floor,
but it was like God, “Where do you want me to go?” and just waiting for Him to wake
me up. Ok, so your night has changed; your day has
changed. One thing I keep thinking, “Did I say this?” but I want to get this across,
I do not think it is until (I go back and look at my life) I do not think it was until
I made sure that I am not *** after the next meal or even theses people that fast
all day and then they eat at night, they are sitting there in the back of their mind—it
is the back of the mind thing! We have talked about the front of the mind—and head hunger—but
what about the back of the mind root that is left in there that literally is: “I am
rewarding myself with food”? So was that a fight to lay down?
ANDY SORRELLS: Yes, definitely. Even after the weight is gone it was still a fight of
just killing that because you get the thoughts in the back of your mind, “Later I will
get to eat with the family” or what ever. No, it is you just eat when you are hungry,
you do not worry about when. Just getting it back to “food is fuel”. It is nothing
else. GWEN SHAMBLIN: Not your friend.
ANDY SORRELLS: It is nothing. It is just there; it is good in Gods bounds, but it is not to
be thought about. Whenever those thoughts would come up put them on higher things like
Michaels song says. And then it just gets you out of there and you are off working or
doing whatever God leads. GWEN SHAMBLIN: Yes, because I can remember
it was a couple years ago (I am probably off on time) there was a time where there was
a little bit of a root, you thought, maybe left; you felt like you were gaining some
of your weight back. You came and you talked about it, you and Maggie both just both went
for it even more so. Would you say…. What helped on that? What classes helped? What
changes in your life helped? ANDY SORRELLS: That fear again; a healthy
new dose of fear. And I think really once what kicked it off for me all over again was
Desert Oasis maybe 2 years ago. It was so strong, the message was so strong to that:
“Time is running out”, GWEN SHAMBLIN: Strong messages; write that
down. ANDY SORRELLS. And listening to it over and
over because I need it; I needed it as much I can get it.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: I do too. Trust me. ANDY SORRELLS: That was the turning point
and then the beginning of the Men’s Nights. That just really has helped me stay the course
even more and see that purpose. GWEN SHAMBLIN: That fellowship and the purpose.
The purpose? ANDY SORRELLS: Yes.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: Ok, dedication. David, what made you dedicated to it?
DAVID MARTIN: Number one just from my own personal testimony and it starts there I had
never heard a message or experienced a class or been in a church where I was immediately
laying down strongholds. And was afraid to pick them back up. So I knew just from my
own experience, life experience and the relationship I was having with God: I was getting giddy
about God, and guys do not normally talk like that. Worldly guys do not talk like that,
church going guys do not talk like that. And Gwen was the only person and everything that
she has written or taught or recorded was the only thing that ever got me into that
real relationship with God where I just was literally in love with Him. And I mean that.
Like King David talked about being in love, and I feel that. I felt that for the first
time in my life after a lifetime at church. And so from my own personal experience also
anytime someone would disagree or if I had detractors: old friends or maybe extended
family members or someone like that that was detracting from that “You are a little too
dedicated to that” or I would look at the fruit of their lives and look at the fruit
of what I had become and what Gwen’s life was like and those who were following that
message and putting that into practice and it was night and day difference. It was easy;
it is black and white. This life was blessed; this life is not blessed so I am going that
way. The other thing that I would say just immediately grasped ahold of by just the mercy
of God and through what you (Gwen) taught was that small; small not only with the food
obviously, but small even in numbers. If the Bible says that it is a narrow road and only
a few are going to find it, then He means what He says. And so it never bothered me,
detractors have never bothered me. GWEN SHAMBLIN: You said also the fruit in
your life—we were chit chatting about this yesterday—the fruit.
DAVID MARTIN: Oh my goodness, the fruit! I actually became a loving husband, I became
kind, I immediately as light is opposite of dark, I went from being disrespectful towards
authority to absolutely embracing, embracing the concept of pleasing the one above me.
I had never been like that. GWEN SHAMBLIN: I makes you want to go for
more. You taste that fruit, you know it is just like when you taste what ever food you
have fallen in love with chips and dip, or whatever it is (I have always mentioned Rocky
Road ice cream or whatever your favorite), once you taste it, then you do not want to
go back to vanilla or whatever. It is the fruit of this has got to be that it is more
fun, that it is there has got to be some kind of a something where you plug it into your
brain because we are slow. And we finally say, “This is better. Ok this is better,
this is better than Rocky Road ice cream, and this is better than a binge.” Thin,
empty, obeying God and a relationship with God and answered prayers—it is all better.
DAVID MARTIN: Amen. GWEN SHAMBLIN: Would you say that is one key
to dedication? DAVID MARTIN: Huge!
GWEN SHAMBLIN: Because it is behavior modification. We go after what is better. And so it is the
lies that make us think something else is better. But people would not be watching this
show, you would not be going to God and you would not seek Him out and find Him if what
you were doing was better. And this guy that wrote, he was saying he was overwhelmed, right?
It was a couple of people who were overwhelmed? DAVID MARTIN: Overwhelmed by the amount of
what they had to overcome. GWEN SHAMBLIN: Ok, now Andy you wanted to
end your life, you were overwhelmed. You did find this answer when you cried out to God.
There is something about crying out to God; you cried out to God and you found the answer.
ANDY SORRELLS: Amen, yes. Maggie had taken it in Chicago and she moved down here for
me, just knew that this worked, and she knew that it worked. She called the Weigh Down
number and Gina Graves and Jenny Mendl said “Hey there is a WDA class” and she had
never taken that. And she went to that I believe in November 2002, she would come home just
talking about God and nobody ever talked about God—not at that level, that love that she
was learning. I knew that something was different, and I would hear her listening, I was not
in the room much; I would try to ignore it. I would hear the tapes in the background with
you (Gwen) speaking and Michael’s music playing on those audios. And the things I
would catch I thought, “Wow, that is the truth, she is reading the Bible, it makes
sense.” And that is when we visited Remnant and from then it was “on”.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: It was downhill, so to speak; uphill, but downhill on the weight. “Hello”
to you, Maggie, and we are going to have you on the show, hopefully one day in the future
here. She lost what 300? ANDY SORRELLS: Yes.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: What though, has kept you dedicated? ANDY SORRELLS: The audios, the videos that
is the tools, and the fear of God and the love of God. At first I had the fear because
I had messed up so long, and I thought, “Wow, what if I overeat and it is my last breath?”
I have got to answer for that, and I still think that way; it has not changed ay all.
But when I got the fear I was producing the fruit because I was obeying God and the love
came in, a love that I had never known. I love Him so much now that I do not want anything
else. Like you said we are happy, this is the better life. That is what keeps me going
because there is no other life. There is nothing else. It is worth fighting for everyday.
GWENSHAMBLIN: My love is just deeper and more exciting and when I see other people out there
struggling or hurting or unpeaceful or they cannot find their way I feel so sorry for
them. I want to just pick up this relationship and put it in, but it did not happen like
that for you (Andy), did not happen like that for you, David did not happen like that for
me; we had to all walk it out. We had to all walk it out. I want to sum it up with that.
But before I go to that segment of the summary I want to make sure that you all get to say
what you want to say to these people—there is 30 countries that are picking up on this.
This is amazing. And Andy you are for real, you are the genuine article. David, you have
had your weight off now for 13 years, but all the other things you have laid down: the
*** and the greed. And turned your whole life, devoted it, you were a singer, musician/singer
and devoted that to a different ministry and changed your life. Andy, you moved to be closer
to people doing it; you changed your life. You made a decision to change your life and
not go back. Tell everybody about that. It is ok, is it
not? ANDY SORRELLS: Yes. It is more than ok. If
I could say one thing to people I know you are in pain and I know that a life is not
good without God. This message has only pointed me to God; it has only just encouraged me
daily. And it is a daily choice; it is a daily battle but you can do it. You have to reach
that point where you are just tired, and I was tired. I was tired of living; was tired
of jus getting up and having no hope for the day. And now life is beautiful. It does not
mater how much weight you have to lose, it does not matter what situation you are in,
and you can stop. You can stop right now and you can get it right.
GWEN SHABMLIN: Eat less. By he way Andy’s day (I know it well just because I have interviewed
you a couple of times here—3) I remember you saying you were not hungry all way into
the afternoon, you would go to White Castle. It is like a crystal here in the south, one
of those little hamburgers –am I right? —It was a few French fries and something
to drink. ANDY SORRELLS: Yes.
GWEN SHAMBLIN: And then later in the evening it was not much more.
ANDY SORRELLS: Yes, something about the same size. And even with that, I am praying, “Do
I need all of this?” “Does my body physically need? Can I get by on less?”
GWEN SHAMBLIN: You were taking smaller bites, you were drinking between bites, all those
tips that are found in Weigh Down Basics. You were praying before the meal, getting
down, “O God, please take this ridiculous idol, silly food”—it is just food—that
rots in a few days in your refrigerator. It is just food, ok? “Take that out of my heart,
God, please! The alcohol, the food, the tobacco, the *** take it out, get this stuff out.”
Because it is not just food that leaves when you do Weigh Down, food is just the beginning
place to teach you how to eradicate the unclean things in your heart. But what happens is
you start and all of a sudden all of this stuff starts popping up. You say, “O my
goodness.” Because you are reading the Bible so much you start reading those lists that
are in Romans 2, Galatians 5 and all throughout the books that Paul wrote. It is the lists
of “and the sins of the flesh are obvious.” And it gives you this long list of the sins
of the flesh and you start reading and you say, “Oops, I may not be a witch but I do
have envy, or I may not…” that type thing. Now do we have any questions coming in or
comments coming in? Make sure you put your--I would like for you to listen right now but
as soon as the show is over--definitely get those comments in. And if there are any major
questions, I do not know if you (David) have gotten any?
DAVID MARTIN: I do not have any right here, right now. But while we are looking at that
if I may just real briefly say that especially in this time and this generation we have access
to much more information with the internet and television than ever before in recorded
history. You are hit with a barrage of information whether at work, whether you are at home whether
you are a student, whatever; man, woman, or child it does not matter. 99.9% of that information
is not life changing that you encounter every day. What if God has (and I believe this by
the way and I know because I am a living testimony of it) what if God has hand selected you even
as depressed as you might feel right now or you might feel overwhelmed, what if God has
selected you for such a day and a time as this to be that .01% of the information—to
encounter that .01% of the information in the course of the day that IS life changing?
Why not try that? If 99.9% of the rest of what is happening during the day does not
change you one way or the other, or maybe it pulls you down, maybe it is changing you
for the worse? Why not invest—and I made that decision early on—this is the only
thing that has ever changed me and it is still changing me to this very day—I am going
‘all in’ on that. I am ‘all in’ because it is the only thing that has changed me and
continues to change me. And I would propose to you that God hand picked
you to get to see and hear this wherever you are in this journey even if this is the first
time you have seen anything with Gwen or Weigh Down, even if it is the first time. If you
will continue down that path and take the next step keep hitting the websites, keep
coming back and get in a class you will never look back if you choose to keep going down
that path. I am a living and breathing testimony that life is a zillion, billion, trillion
percent better continuing on that path. And God has hand selected you to see and hear
this even today, you are that important even though you think you are not; you are that
important to Him. And I believe that with all my heart. And if you will keep doing it
you will feel this way that how we are talking on this stage right here. And as so many people
who have been successful with it have talked about you will overcome and you will have
permanent ongoing success. Not up/down, Ping-Pong, and yo-yo you will stay on the path; you will
not go to bed guilty every night. You are out of the torture zone and you are free,
you are flying. That is how I feel. GWEN SHAMBLIN: Absolutely, absolutely. Well,
I want to thank you guys for being on. And I want to take a minute just to summarize
today. I feel like God is trying to get through to us because there is many people out there
flipping through this it is still people going “I have tried this, I am stuck. I have tried
other things, and I am stuck. What is wrong with me oh wretched man that I am?” like
we have talked about last week. And last week we uncovered tremendous scriptures that are
letting us know that we have an obligation, we have got to be different.
And we have got to be born again. Now how do we do that? How did Andy lose 257 pounds
about 10 years ago? David Martin over 10 years ago, me 30 years ago, by the way—do not
downplay that testimony either, please; 30 solid years of keeping my weight off. I wonder
how many heads of weight loss companies can be video taped below the waist? A lot of people
cannot because they are still fighting it because they have been dieting. And dieting
lets you know you are not dedicated; you are not dedicated. If you want to be permanently
thin let me tell you something, you are going to have to be dedicated. It says in Matthew
6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or
he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
I also want to take you to Luke 11. This is a situation where Jesus has just healed one
of these guys and the pharisees are in there arguing that he has healed this guy from bealzabub.
Let me go to Luke 11, now what Jesus goes on to tell you is going to be absolutely profound.
(David) go to Luke 11 for me, I am going to go ahead and show you something here while
we are looking up Luke 11. (Gwen has demo set up on table beside her
chair) This is vinegar here and this is oil. This (pointing to glass container) is going
to represent your heart, and this (glass of yellow oil) is going to represent what you
have had in it in the past—unclean. Ok? It is all about what you put into your heart.
If you every hour of the day (all of you people out there who think you are struck and you
think you cannot do this) if you would go in there and put in this white, pure thoughts
of God, pray to God, turning to Truthstream, getting your workbook, again back to praying
to God, etc., etc., etc. if you start putting in—watch what happens if you put the good
in—it will start—see the glass now? You are putting the good in down there (as she
is pouring white vinegar into glass of yellow oil) what is it doing to the bad? Because
it is a finite area, what it is doing? (She continues to pour vinegar into the glass of
oil). It is pushing the bad out. Now watch. If you keep on it—in the beginning you may
not feel anything—but if you keep on watch this. That bad is going to spill out, it is
spilling out all over the place (as she pours more vinegar into the glass of oil the oil
spills out of the glass leaving the clear white vinegar in the glass instead).
Look at the percentages now. It is now mostly clean; but you have got to go all the way.
If you keep going it will get all the bad out. Is that not neat? Can you take a close
up look now of that? It is a completely clean glass.
I praise God for displacement where it is a finite heart, but if you keep putting whatever
is lovely whatever is noble whatever is wonderful, you keep putting that in then the next thing
you know you are going to have a heart that is transformed. What Jesus said in 11th chapter
of Luke is He was driving out the demons and He knew their thoughts. And He said, you all
are claiming I drive out demons by bealzabub. “Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebub,
by whom do your followers drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. But if
I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you.
“When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. But
when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the
man trusted and divides up the spoils. He who is not with me is against me, and he who
does not gather with me, scatters. When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through
arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the
house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then
it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live
there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first.” As Jesus was saying
these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you
birth and nursed you.” He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God
and obey it.” Now, what is all this saying? All there mixed
together in Luke 11. What this is saying, Jesus is saying, look, satan is not coming
in and driving out the unclean spirit from your heart. That is not what is going to do
it. If unclean is coming out it is the finger of God touching you. It is His Spirit coming
in and it is displacement. And then the strongman, He is saying if someone comes in stronger
it is going to take back over this. You have got to fight like we have all said today.
This is not just a little bitty show that is fun to watch; this is a war and you have
been called to a war of the heart. Which is where Jerusalem is, it is where Zion is, is
in the heart. And you have got to put that armor on; if the strongman comes in and takes
your armor away then everything is going to be taken away from you. And then it goes on
to say that when an evil spirit comes out of man—let us just say that you repent and
you get rid of this or you do this displacement—but if you do not put back in the Spirit of God
and this love for God then seven evil spirits are going to come in worse than the first
one and fill up your heart. And that is when people sometimes feel like, “hey, I cannot
go any farther.” But the fact is that you start over and there
are charts that we are going to allow all viewers to be able to access through Remnant
TV and if you will go up here and you can see the chart. There is the hour-by-hour chart,
which is found in the Breakthrough Series, but we are going to let you download that
today. And I want you to start with hour by hour each day of the week. How much is Spirit
in there? How much is flesh? Get that flesh out of there, get your desires out of there:
Kill them. Put them to death. And then they will die, and then after you are done with marking that for several days
then you move to the next chart which we have here which will go Monday, Tuesday, it goes
all the way through one week. “S” stands for Spirit, “F” stands for flesh; you
go in there and see if you have a good attitude about it, you put a happy face on there if
you have a good attitude. And then finally the “d” and the “s” was it deliberate
or stumbling sins? Did you deliberately do it or did you accidently do it? When you start
getting an “s” a Spirit day with a happy face and it might have been a stumble you
will eventually get to the point where it is a Spirit day, a happy face and no stumbles
at all, nothing; you are flying free and your heart is filled up with this love.
Is this something you can do? Yes. What are waiting for? Are you waiting for some religion
that is telling you that it is–who knows what people are telling you to do? Jesus said
blessed are they that hear this and put it into practice.
If you will put it into practice I am telling you--with this suffering with this fight,
with this armor, with this Truth from the Heavens through Jesus Christ--I am telling
you “”You will Overcome!” Until next week: Overcome through Jesus Christ. Praise
God for this day. And blessings to all of those out there, thank you for joining us.
Praise God! Thank you, Andy for joining us, that was amazing.
I praise God for you, thank you, and thank you so much. Praise God. Yeah! Thank You,
God! Thank You.
