Alright now, we're going to continue. We're going to talk about mixing the high hat. And
the high hat is that thing in there, that tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk. It kind of keeps
the rhythm of the song a little bit. And also with the kick and snare, you know that's just
part of the drum set. And what you want to do when you're mixing you're high hat is you
always want to paint it a little to the left or to the right. The kick or snare need to
be up the middle. The high hat, you want it to pan a little to the left or right because
it gives it a fuller and it gives it a rich sound. When you're mixing a song, you don't
want it to sound so mono. You want to sound full when you mix things in stereo mix it
little bit to the left and right. It starts giving it a fuller sound. You don't want t
o mix your high hat all the way to the left or all the way to the right. You just want
to mix it a little bit maybe 10%, 15%. Enough where you hear it in both speakers. But if
somebody happens to be listening to it in a headphone set or in front of two speakers,
it will start giving a full sound. So you want to mix your high hat a little bit and
just go in there, you don't want it too loud. You don't want that high hat too loud. You
just kind of want it to where you barely hear it, but you just, its still in there, you
can hear it but it's still in there. I'm going to show you all an example. See the high hat
is a little bit, it's in my right a little bit, but it gives that full sound. See you
want to keep it a little bit just somewhere to the right or left, but it gives it a full
sound. Not just a plain, regular monotone sound. And you just want to fool with it.
You don't want it too loud, where it?s like, "Man, what is that?" You want it just kind
of in the mix, a little bit lower than the kick. Lower than the snare, you just want
to have it in there and it?s riding with the beat. And it's just adding a little bit to
the drum set. Just keep fooling around with it until you get it the way you like and then
you're on and ready to mix your next thing.
