Ok it been roughly 24 hours since I put them in there so lets have a look and see whats happened
They are still there.
Push that out of the way. Yes they are still in one piece, they haven't
gone slimy or fallen to bits as I had expected They are still in one piece and they are now
very flexible which is amazing really I am quite surprised at that actually I did not
think it would work but yes look at that it wouldn't move at all before and if you tried
to squeeze it it just cracked but look at that totally flexible, look at that, pretty
amazing really I am realy surprised at that, so looking at that little experriment I have
just done I would say that soaking rubber parts in brake fluid does work it seems to
have restored what was left of it back to normal rubber so yes it does work brilliant
Ok I just thought I would add a quick update its been about a month now since I treated
these with brake fluid and I have just left them outside in the sun and rain to see if
it was just a tempory effect but like I said it has been about a month now and as you can
see they are still very flexible, you can see all the damage from before but it still
doesnot fall appart the cracks are still there from before but they are not getting any worse,
that one is slightly better, still flexible, so it does seem to be a lasting effect, you
can see the bits coming still from where it had dried out but yes it seems to be usable
anyway and if you cannot get replacements for something you could probably use them
