GemOro, the company that revolutionized the world of gold testing with the AuRACLE gold
testers, has taken their popular AGT-One model and upgraded it to make calibrating the tester
even simpler. Learn how to calibrate the new AuRACLE AGT-One PLUS tester with this easy
to follow guide from Esslinger-dot-com.
Be aware: if you have an original model AuRACLE AGT-One gold tester, you will not be able
to follow these steps to calibrate your tester. Instead, use your instructional pamphlets
that came with the tester, or you can contact Esslinger-dot-com for more information if
you lost your original manuals.
To calibrate your AGT- One Plus, you will need:
An AuRACLE AGT- One Plus tester A piece of fourteen karat gold for calibration
A metal file And a paper towel
Turn your AGT-One Plus tester on and let it sit for two minutes to warm up. This will
allow the tester time to prime for calibration and testing gold.
The first thing you will need to do to calibrate your AGT-One Plus is to clean the pen probe
of any excess testing liquid. Remove the cap and take your paper towel to gently wipe the
tip of the probe to remove extra liquid and other debris from earlier testing. When you
are finished, the moisture consistency of pen probe should be similar to that of a sharpie
Once you have cleaned the pen probe, you will need to prep your calibration metal. Take
the piece of fourteen karat gold you will use for calibration and file away a small
section with your metal file to reveal the gold under the surface of the jewelry.
Place your piece of calibration gold on the testing plate with the filed portion facing
up toward you, this is where you will position the pen probe tip.
Next, you will need to charge the tip of the pen probe before you can calibrate the tester
or begin testing gold. Do this by touching the tip of the pen probe to the filed portion
of the gold and holding it there until the testing light settles on the correct fourteen
karat reading.
Repeat this two more times to fully charge the pen probe, waiting each time for the reading
light to settle before charging again. This will put an electrical charge in the pen probe
and allow you to test gold with ease.
Now that the pen probe is clean and charged, you are ready to calibrate it. Start by pressing
the large red calibration button on the top of the tester, just below the readout display.
The calibrated light will begin flashing telling you that the tester is ready to be calibrated.
Touch the tip of the pen probe to the filed area of your piece of calibration gold again
and hold it there until the calibration light stops flashing and the tester shows you that
the gold is fourteen-karat like you know it to be.
After you have finished calibrating the metal, touch the pen probe to the calibration gold
again and ensure that the tester reads 'fourteen karat gold'. If it does not test correctly,
calibrate the tester again.
Your tester is completely calibrated now and you can begin testing gold and platinum with
confidence. To learn more about using your AGT-One Plus, check out Esslinger-dot-com
