Now let's jump right into the Tornado Kick. In order to set up or prepare for the running
of this move, I like to start with the left leg back. Just so I more momentum and build
up for the run. As we go, we take one step out with the left leg and then one step over
with the right leg. Shifting our weight from the left to the right. This all happens very
suddenly but we see that is goes one, two, into what we call a horse stance. Where the
weight is balanced and we shift it to our right leg. Show you one from this angle. Start
from back here. I keep my hand forward in the direction I want to go. Then we step out
into a horse stance where my body is straight. It's not bend, it's not back, all my weight
is straight and my spine is straight facing up and then I get ready for the next movement.
So, I'm going to speed that up a little bit. One, two, and that's the basic set up. Of
course, you can have more space and step back if you want to run and build up more momentum.
Maybe you take a couple of steps and then you go into your setup. Now remember, when
you are set up for it when you are in the horse stance. After you take your one, two.
When you're in the horse stance you want it to be about a little bit more than you shoulder
length. Note how my knees are about the same length or same spacing as where my shoulders
are. You want to be about to the point where you could put something on your thighs, you
could rest something on your thigh without it falling. But not that low. Just a little
bit higher than, so that you are able to spring off when you're ready for the kick. So note,
this height. I'm going to show you from this angle as well. You want to be about this height
so you are ready to spring up. So watch, one, two, and you're ready to jump. So next we're
going to show you the following movements.
