everybody this is an a bronze and today i i'm gonna show you how distinct motion
typography to audio
because as you know most of our favorites not centered on the old what's
kind of like crap
started cramping
when it gets a crap on the internet
out that the versus code
now before we can get into stinking up any typography we have to get into how
after affects actually treats audio the first complaint ive always heard a boat
aftereffects an audio is that people think the after-effects has remove the
audio
or aftereffects
has gotten rid of it or its muting it or whatever appears now you can tell if
after faxes correctly imported your audio select away our hit they'll tell
that's bill place
antal pull-up this interesting set of peaks and valleys which you may
recognize as an audio waveform this will show you that after affects has indeed
recognize that you've given it a piece of audio to look at
now the reason you can't he read when you pressed a start to preview is
because space bar is a preview without audio this is what it is if you want to
preview it with audio you have to ramp review it they have to make sure in your
preview window which is found by going window
preview
and that's this thing by making sure that this here
looks like it does here with not muted audio
menu ramp review will go through will render and then it'll crank along some
sound with it
or another option
you can press the decimal point
on the number pad
uh... or a period because i'll remember pals called a decimal
uh... camellia located next to the zero which is to ramp reviews cell
hitting period
will just cause it to play it only the audio
and the last and perhaps most important us is a feature where you hold down
command on a mac or control on a pc and then scrub through by clicking and
dragging on the timeline
now adolescent
basically what it does is it's going to play the sound at the point where the
play head is as you're dragging it
if you drank slowly you'll hear slow audio could write quickly here fast
audio
uh... if you can drag a normal you know regulus the daniel here
audio at regular speed
for our purposes that's probably the most interesting feature because it
allows you to go in and very quickly figure m when sounds are starting
stopping when words are starting and finishing
and
when you look at the time line here that'll give you another indication when
you're waveform is up
where the animations need to be starting stopping finishing all that good stuff
so we've got our tools and now we can actually get into the nitty-gritty part
of sinking up audio and motion topography so now you have the tools
let's use them
take your audio which is imported in your project drag it on to new
composition
from here you click on this little button over here
compositions settings
change not deliver frame size you want frame rates badly baba all of that is
not important
what is important is that you select your audio tape l bill and bring it into
waveform
now go ahead and listened to the part of the track fear interested in doing
this is what we're gonna work on uh... you do have a heading period for liberty
said
now here's the method i use
i make all of my text new layers hit commander control t bring up here text
tool click anywhere
start typing
hit the return key or enter key over on the number of had to accept your text we
can do this for sense to show you how it goes
now
you want to arrange the use
uh... the way you want them to finish so let's work backwards how do we want this
whole thing then
pay everybody in this is kevin abrams i write this is the most exciting thing
but was trying to prove talking point here so now the next thing to do is to
determine how you want them to animate on
how do you want everything to get here
so let's go with something really basic liked everything go ahead three frames
one two three
and then let's set up positions you frame for all of them by hitting p than
hit my stopwatch
go back to beginning
and his grandma everything just drag it off the frame
and there's gonna pop in dislike that www not very exciting yet
but you know
stick with me here
easy easel your key frames
and then it's time to sink it up to the points at which everything comes on
so
let's go ahead
this is the actual stinking up
we're gonna go through
you're gonna find
where each sound work each word starts so hate starts here
so your honor frame
hit the square bracket the open square bracket
and il shift the layer to be there
and then every starts around there
buck body starts above their and you can even seen here where the starts are
were kind of peaks 'cause when you start speaking
could peaks
let's continue
uh... radio because t h
family yet
is
uh... because they have them
moving right along almost there
doing that so far
and finally abrams
how does that work k
everybody missus evidence
metabolism
not too bad actually skyler
are coming together
moment one of my
move body up a little bit because it sounds like
happening too late we don't see it
soon enough so those are the kinds of adjustments you gonna wanna make as you
ram preview look through but
in general
you always want the animation of the things coming on
to be starting
as
the word is starting
and to be finished before the word is done so you can read it and here it at
the same time
for those three simple we just animated this whole nonsense
really fast
uh... it doesn't look very good
well i'm talking about this i'm gonna go ahead and guess it is up a little bit
one of the things you want to make sure of when you're doing motion that
biographies is that your tax actually add something to what you're saying
this tax year that you're looking at certainly doesn't
and in fact
it's pretty boring
this is one of the most boring font choices
certainly
the movement isn't very exciting
and though it is correctly sink tough it doesn't
really add anything to what it's cinco to always try to plan to the you want to
see more with the words than what the words are actually saying the best
typography is are generally the ones that sustain interest
that add something special
and that has been followed and planned thoroughly
if it's just a random smattering of words that's great but
was that giving you
that you didn't already have by reading it or
just by listening to it always when you're making motion typography consider
what your adding
and consider
or the typography can do for you
for example if your doing emotion photography of the monologue from
the movie fight club
maybe consider at the end have a camera pullback in revealed that all the text
made a bar of soap
that's the thing
or that it form some kind of i cannot her fee from the film
and as the words come in
try to have the words
mean something or have them somehow go along with what you're looking at
uh... you know obviously
i did a pretty bad job in the intro because i've not even using words but
anyway i hope
that this helps you to make typography faster
so that you can take your time away from the sinking up of audio to the waveform
which is cumbersome
and move more of your activities towards the creative side of stuff in making
something
pretty unique and taking that planning time and i think in time to
try new ideas and try new ways of animating things in just experimenting
with what you're making
uh... i live in abrams
i will be very excited to see what people make
of this by ever big fan of motion photog for myself i do but for people
uh... if you want one done i guess let me know or is this tutorial and then you
can make one for yourself
he would go
uh... but i said i want to know you guys do so respond to this finger tweed at
near whatever among the twitter and i'm on the face book
and just send me the stuff you make i'd love to see
the motion to biographies you guys come up with
and uh...
yeah i guess that's it if you have any questions about this and you techniques
and tools but i'm talking about
you know mostly this is pretty boring thing eleven aerospace for watching and
i'll see around the internet
