Hi! My name is Carol Schlei and I live in Oak Creek. I’m not too far from Mr. Johnston’s
office. And, I have been thinking about asking people questions about hearing aids for several
years reading all the literature and when I got the literature from Mr. Johnston’s
office recently. I read over and it just made sense. All the things that were bothering
me -- that I couldn’t hear my grandchildren very well anymore, that when I was in a group
situation at church I could hear the pastor but not hear other comments. The phone, I
was having trouble hearing some people on the phone. And, I knew it was time I had to
get some help. And so when I got the literature from this office I made an appointment to
come up here. Mr. Johnston answered all my questions. I was really happy. There were
3 main things that people always talk to me about hearing aids I had bought. “Cheapy”
at the drugstore. And that just didn’t do the trick. A lot of people said, “I’ve
had a hearing aid for 5 or 10 years and I’m really not that happy with it.” But, I think
now with the new digital and electronic devices that hearing aids are way better than they
have ever been. So that was one point that I was really concerned about.
Second point, of course, is cost. Everybody’s saying, “Oh boy they’re so expensive.”
When I got here and talked to Mr. Johnston, he handed me a sheet with 3 different prices
on -- a low price, a medium price and a high price. He said he would work with me on whatever
price I felt comfortable with and we would go from there.
And then, the third thing, the third concern of everybody is always batteries on changing
batteries constantly. Well with the devices that I have, usually it’s about 6 days that
the batteries are good for. And then, I have to change and put some new ones but boy it’s
wonderful. It’s just absolutely wonderful to be able to hear better again.
I think that I feel better about myself. I feel more confident again. And, I love my
new hearing aids.
