Mission 03 - Destroyer Of Ardor Normal mode, Special Bonus
Time limit: 3:00 (or 3:30 if you do the Secret Mission) Red Orbs required: 550 Damage allowed: none
Buy Air Hike, Stinger and Stinger 2. Stinger speeds you up and Air Hike will make short work of Phantom.
I Stinger quite a bit in this mission. It's a force of habit, really, as it's faster than walking.
There's 50 Orbs up here which you'll need for the Special Bonus.
Leave these Orbs. They'll become big Orbs which are worth 100 Red Orbs a piece when you revisit this place in Mission 16 and onwards.
The damage you get from being under water does not count against you as damage taken.
Fun fact: a Stinger from a longer distance does more damage than a short range Stinger.
See? Only two hits needed thanks to the first Stinger.
The Orbs I collect here compensate the ones I didn't pick up above the arch.
The battle with Phantom is tricky because of the timing.
As soon as the cut scene ends, DT, Air Hike and perform a downward slash. This first hit takes practice.
What happens is that I hit Phantom twice: once in the abdomen and once in his bulb. The extra damage comes from the Air Hike: the higher the jump, the more damage you do.
I prefer a hop-jump for this method. It allows me to correct my angle, but doesn't always work.
The Stinger caused the fireball to explode.
This technique is really tricky to pull off. It takes a lot of practice to get the timing down, so don't get discouraged if you fail.
