My name is Krystal Anderson and I am an educator.
[BLANK_AUDIO]
I work at the student recruitment and retention center on UC Davis campus.
I work, the student recruitment and retention center has 7 components.
And the component I work for is collective.
Which is the transfer and re entry component.
And basically what I do at the
student comm, student recruitment and retention center is
that I host high schools, elementary, middle
schools, and also junior colleges at UC Davis.
So I'm part of the recruitment team, so I work to bring these students to campus.
And host them and basically whatever like their.
Their teacher they want or they're interested in, I try to like
mold a campus visit or just like a visit for them to
UC Davis that kind of I don't know kind of shows their
interests or gives them, gets them more interested in coming to UC Davis.
And, I also have another job which that at UC Davis the
dining commons, so I work there as Been working there since a freshman.
But yeah, so I hold two jobs on UC Davis campus.
Some of the things I highlight is Dutton Hall and SASC,
so SASC is like our Student Academic Success Center and
basically what we have there is we have free tutors.
So, there's free tutors here in English and
Math and Chemistry and all of the sciences.
Basically, what they do is they provide
tutors, they provide specialists and student tutors to
help you with different different majors or
different classes that you have at UC Davis.
So, if you having issues or trouble One of the places you can go is to SASC.
And I also tell them about like the professors.
Because the professors here they actually do
care about like, you succeeding in life.
And they really love when you come to office hours.
So, pretty much yeah, I tell them that about UC Davis.
And also about the people, because this is one
of the only campus that, I mean me personally, I.
Was doing.
I had finals, and I was running on like two hours of sleep.
So this is the only place where I can leave, I accidentally
left my laptop in the community center and someone returned it to me.
So someone, like, found it, and And they gave it to like
one of the workers here at UCDavis and I was able to
go back and get my laptop so [LAUGH] I thought that was
great, that doesn't really happen everywhere but at UC Davis it does.
The world needs more educators UC Davis needs you.
