Hi dolls, it's Onyxbeauty
1988
And I am here with another foundation review
I picked up the Cover FX Powder FX
compact foundation at Sephora the other day
so you guys know I’m a bit of a foundation junkie
but I’m also
someone who suffers from acne prone skin, so
I do have to be careful what i put on my skin
so when i was looking around Sephora i was actually there looking for a good
navy blue eyeshadow
because in my head I’m like fantasizing about this really cute
navy blue smokey eye. and then i realized like
i don't have any
really good navy blue eye shadows in my own personal collection because usually
i wear bronzes and browns and neutral colors, earthy tones like that.
sooo, I was like i need to kick it up a notch and i thought about it, if i'm going to get eyeshadow i have't to get
Nars if i want a really good
pigmented navy blue eyeshadow. so thats what i got
and love it
but anywho, i actually
wasn't even looking at the Cover FX because of the fact that
its for tattoo cover up
and i have a lot of clients that I do tattoo cover up on or
photoshoots and weddings and different things,
so i was like okay let me go ahead check this out
and the process of doing that
i saw their foundations so I like i'll give it a try
so
that foundation claims that it is dermatologist's first choice
provides max coverage for normal to oily skin
it's also for sensitive and acne prone skin
and it's free of parabins, oils, wax
and fragrance. I was like heck yeah, right?!
No
I absolutely do not like this foundation. I feel like my face looks
cakey and I hate that
and its lighter
I just don't like this foundation and I really
tried to like it. You can apply this foundation wet or dry. I tried it both ways.
Neither way
came out with the result i liked, i just looked
cakey to me. like it looked ashy to me.
and
I really not have had good luck with powder foundations, outside of my MAC Studio
Fix foundation the powder I
absolutely love that one
and it's
completely awesome. but in the summer
it's just too light on my skin because it only goes up to a NW50 and
in the summer i'm a NW55
so i thought that this may be like a nice, light powder form foundation
definitely you're not going to get
a dewy finish to it, its going to be mat.
My problem with it is a little bit too matte for me.
It's almost to the point where, in my opinion, looks a bit ashy.
I mean you guys can
actually
Look at my face and look at my chest here, I mean it looks
way
just way
way lighter than he rest of my body, I dont like that
It did look different in Sephora when i tried it on
that is the thing that is kind of deceiving especially about foundations that sometimes
in the store its looks different under their lighting
I knew better, I should have stepped outside and saw how it looked outside but I didnt and
that's my fault
I'm going to be returning this to Sephora and
getting something else cuz this is just not going to cut it. and i also have experienced
a little bit of
breakout because of
using this foundation
and
you know that
for me
even if it was the correct color thats a really big issue for me.
and i dont want anything thats going to make it flare up, but
it could just be my skin
other people may have great results with because they do claim
for acne prone skin
so it is
$35 and come with a applicator, regular foam
applicator
and
the way the foundation looks
is um
It’s just a compact, a regular compact
Makeup compact
And
There’s a nice amount of product in there
I have only
Used in a couple times
And all the times I used it
I didn’t like it
But I imagine a powder like this would last you a long time like the MAC Studio Fix does
But I’m not going to find out. It is SPF 10
So it does have some sunscreen protection in it so
That is good. I think you need a little bit higher than 10
I'm guilty of not wearing sunscreen unless it’s in my foundation, so
Most of the MAC foundations that I have are between 15 and
30 SPF
So that's where i get my sunscreen protection from and i know it’s terrible
You should wear
Sunscreen even if you're dark
I definitely should be doing that And maybe i will one day
On paper this sounds
Like a fantabulous foundation
But just for me it didn’t work. So let me know if you've tried this foundation and what you think of it
