Y'all really messed up, Build a Bear.
I should make a weekly segment for this, y'know, called "Y'all Messed Up."
Last week it was Samsung, and this week it's Build a Bear.
How you gonna say it's a Pay Your Age day, but then NOT expect some insanity.
Parents, how you gonna make your kids wait in line for like six hours?
Alright, so Build a Bear announced that they were going to dedicate and entire day to just
paying your age.
So whatever age you are, that's what you pay for a bear.
So you could save probably something like $20-$30 on a bear?
I'm about to walk in there and be like, "Yeah I'm 4 years old.
Yeah, I just hit puberty really early, y'know, so, uh yeah.
I know I have a deep voice and a beard, but... but I haven't even started kindergarten yet
so could I get a Pikachu?"
So they reduced the prices of bears!
What could go wrong?!
As you probably can guess, everything went wrong.
Stores across the country are exploding with people.
It was to the point where people would line up before stores even opened and they had
to cut off the lines and hand out $15 vouchers just to make up for it.
The lines were massive.
I mean they were probably bigger than the lines to vote in the Presidential Election
in 2016.
Yeah, I went there.
Build a Bear just couldn't keep up with the volume of people.
So they really messed up by doing the Pay Your Age day.
I'm sure with a little more preparation, they could've at least softened the blow, but I
don't think anything could've prepared them for this volume of people.
The turnout was way more than they were ready to handle.
But, people's anger towards Build a Bear I think is a little bit extreme.
People are like using their kids being upset as a reason to shame Build a Bear.
If the line wait is like 3+ hours, is it REALLY worth standing in line with your kids with
all of these people around, which is a safety hazard in itself, just to save like $20?
I can understand trying to teach your kids patience, but this seems a bit extreme.
Like you're just gonna force your kid to stand there in a cluster of people?
Why not take your kids out to do something fun, like go to the park and get some ice
cream, y'know, put that money that you would spend on a bear and use that time to go do
something fun!
You could take em to the movies, I mean Incredibles 2 is out and I highly recommend that you see
it.
All I'm saying is, if I would've seen that line whenever I took my siblings out whenever
I was younger, I would've been like nope.
We're gonna go do something different.
Let's go get some ice cream and let's go to the playground.
Let's go enjoy the day and let's go do something.
And it would've been a fun day because I'm tellin ya, my time is worth more than the
$20 I'd save standing in a 3 hour line.
Now if this was some marketing ploy by the Build a Bear marketing team, good job, you've
got people talking about you now.
Just like IHOB... sorry, IHOP.
They, uh, changed their name back.
So what do you guys think about this madness?
Do you agree or disagree with what I said?
Did you guys go out yourself and try to fight the lines or did you say screw it, I'm not
gonna do that?
Let me know what you guys think in the comments below.
So that's gonna wrap up this quick little video, so thank you all for watching, and
as always the most important part, have yourself a blessed day.
So here's what's gonna happen.
Over here is gonna be the subscribe button, which you should definitely consider hitting,
and over here is gonna be some more content in case you wanted to see it.
I'm gonna include up on the top, the last's weeks episode of "Y'all Messed Up."
So hey, that's where I'm gonna go ahead and sign off, so I'll see you guys in the next
episode.
