a Walmart in Northeast Ohio held a food drive for its underpaid employees
so they would have something tasty to eat during the Thanksgiving holiday
now keep in mind that the majority the vast majority of all time Walmart
employees make twenty five thousand dollars a year
these all borough time Walmart employees full-time
okay not part-time and that is not enough to
be above the poverty level it's to be fair to be fairly have barely above a
few
family of poor mother yes so if you're a family of four
and you I have a household income up twenty five thousand dollars
you're just barely above the poverty level now as a result
the government has to subsidize these employees through
governmental programs and social services like welfare
or the SNAP program which is the food stamp program and it's been up to fairly
disastrous for our economy when you consider that
483 hundred-person superstore Super Center for wal-mart
update the government pays about 904 2,542 to 1.7 million
each year so that's our taxpayer money no
your problems you should be livid about that ride wire is our taxpayer money
gonna
subsidize accompanying me this crony capitalism right
what a big an unfair advantage to lead an unfair advantage over your small
business
where we might happen to be in the country now that a ride is it
of course says Walmart gives a tremendous amount a political donations
might is right an always-on all our problems love Walmart
now to be fair so the clintons a lot of politicians coming out are gone so the
Republicans or Democrats
Blanche Lincoln was a democrat of arkansas
couldn't get far up enough wal-mart's you know what
a luck wishes on congress anymore but what difference does it make anybody
else who come to all my absolutely just give me the money
and I'll follow back you look at the store looking outrageous it is
they've got a new their asking people to donate food for their
own underpaid employees that's essentially saying
hey look we know we're not paying them a living wage we know that the majority of
them are living in poverty
but who cares about that we're gonna ask you to not only spend your tax dollars
a governmental programs to help them out we're all gonna ask you to feed them
during the holidays
which is ridiculous especially considering the fact that Walmart is
well the largest employers in the country and what are the most profitable
okay and I a when are we gonna have some common sense regulation this country
that has these corporations paying their employees a living wage
it's insane now and E waller's on a small country like I will you know there
are tough times work they do
in for a little while ago to pay low salaries and then they're trying to help
out by doing this charity for for their own employees dunno
they make billions upon billions of dollars every single year
in fact the six walks in here's most amazing fact there is
have more wealth than the bottom forty percent of the country
they're not hurting for money so could they pay their water
workers just a little bit more so you don't have to share drive Shalam
so they can actually buy their own food and so they don't have to rely on tax
rules of course they can
and they just make I don't know where they make a billion dollars last
out of the 10 the billions they make in property year
I'm Iwate but no Totoro stock market
is all controlling you the market price must go up every year
so G gotta squeeze more and more money lol workers
and so they rely on the charity O others
and and the american taxpayers so that wal-mart could continue to pay
obscene profits so let me jump in with some proposed solutions one proposed
solution which I think obviously make sense
if having the federal minimum wage increased okay to a living wage
alright so to keep up with the inflation and all that but another proposed
a solution to it is the earned income tax credit right
which i think is the dumbest idea ever because they basically have the american
taxpayers
up make up for the difference in what
the the Walmart refuses to pay employed now it would be in the form of a tax
refund or tax credit when they actually do their taxes
but they're not is it basically forcing them to go up by
unaccounted do their taxes to ensure that they'll get that money back in one
lump sum
which is not going to help a lot of people the best way to do it is to make
sure that they have
a steady indecent incomes they can feed their family
near not to rely on governmental programs if you are a full time worker
in this country you should be living in poverty it's not broken simple
yeah a lot of these workers by the way I am I've been there for a long long time
to this whole idea I don't worry at least you can work your way up
not really I mean you know some small percentage cameras you know we did the
store and fast food
a chains and it turns out that they don't promote from within the just hire
executives from
other companies executives in so a tiny percentage get moved up and
the overwhelming majority stay at minimum wage
or a little better poverty wages or tiny bit better
and I just wanna close this a story by reading you a comment
from the spokesperson for wal-mart he says this is part of the company's
culture to rally around associates and take care of them
when they face extreme hardships
well I love that quote because they're totally acknowledging that they treat
their employees
poorly yet who gave them the extreme hardship
new did pent up paying them so if you shared in your
enormous profits with your employer is a little bit that they wouldn't be an
extreme hardship
