In this video, you will learn how Easyl synchronizes
your data and allows you to share important information with others.
Rayna, who works in marketing, has information about recent campaigns and the sales that
resulted from them. Her challenge is that some of the relevant data is stored in a Salesforce
CRM and the rest resides in Eloqua. Rayna decides to use Easyl. Easyl will merge
the data from the two sources for her, keep it up to date, and allow her to share her
work with others. When Easyl retrieves the merged data, Rayna
sees the results in a spreadsheet-like report. She can filter the data, move columns, or
add and remove columns. When Rayna is satisfied and saves her report, by default Easyl exports
the data to an Excel spreadsheet. Rayna wants to measure the effectiveness of
campaigns by geographical region, so she decides to create some graphs and charts. Rayna opens
the spreadsheet. (cut to screen shot). The blue shaded cells highlight the data that
Easyl maintains for Rayna. (back to animation) Rayna references that data from Easyl on other
worksheet pages. The results surprise her. Rayna decides to run the information by her
boss before making recommendations about future marketing campaigns.
In Easyl, Rayna selects her CampaignResults folder and indicates she wants to share it
with Erin, Rayna's boss. Easyl sends an e-mail invitation to Erin.
When Erin accepts the invitation, Easyl copies the Campaign Results folder and exported spreadsheet
to Erin's computer. Erin can access the spreadsheet from Easyl's browser interface or from the
folder on her desktop. Oops, Rayna realizes that another campaign
just closed. She wants to reflect that information in her charts, so she logs in to Easyl and
refreshes the report. Easyl retrieves the latest data from Salesforce and Eloqua. Then,
Easyl updates the report and exported spreadsheet—on both Rayna's and Erin's systems.
Everyone sharing Rayna's CampaignResults folder is now looking at the most up-to-date information,
regardless of whether they view it through Easyl's browser interface or by opening an
exported spreadsheet. Erin is alsosurprised by the results and wonders
whether other factors are involved. Maybe the sales figures also have a relationship
to the number of sales reps in a region. She creates a new worksheet tab and adds an additional
table and graph to visualize that information. When Erin saves the spreadsheet, Easyl updates
Rayna's spreadsheet too. Erin e-mails Rayna, explaining the change and suggesting that
Joe, the Sales Manager, would be interested in the data.
Rayna sends an Easyl sharing invitation to Joe. Joe does not have Easyl installed on
his desktop, but can view the spreadsheet using Easyl's browser interface.
Joe is impressed with Rayna's data. He will use it to justify adding staff in an underserved
region. He sends a thank you e-mail to Rayna and her boss. In it, he agress to support
a budgetary increase for marketing dollars as soon as he hires more sales reps.
Rayna's boss sends her a congratulatory e-mail. Rayna used Easyl's synchronization and sharing
to extract real business value from her data. This ends our look at Easyl sharing and synchronization.
