I would like to welcome everybody to City Hall in 's-Hertogenbosch. Today the award for Cycling City 2011 will be celebrated here. A welcome to the children of the Troubadour school, who arrived here by bicycle. If we let cities compete to see if cycling can be improved, we can compare them and they can learn from each other. They can be awarded, so other cities may think: We want that as well! Of course: it all starts with cycle paths. But it's also about bridges and tunnels. And it's about roundabouts and access to the [car free] center. You boldly gave cyclists access to the pedestrian streets. And that works very well. It is of course also about free guarded cycling parking. And the beautiful community wide cycling policies.
