In community news, Global Network of Age-friendly Cities is launched by the World Health Organization.
The initiative will help to create urban environments that assist the elderly in becoming active
participants in society. Member cities pledge to take actual steps to ensure a better living
space for older residents. These include providing access to public transport, outdoor spaces
and buildings, as well as appropriate housing, community support and health services. New
York, USA has been the first city to join the Network. Kudos, World Health Organization,
for your efforts to support all members of society. May our cherished elders flourish
in health and happiness as they continue to share their wisdom, patience, and love
