Good morning, I'm Harry McLean
and over the next few minutes, I'm gonna convince you why I should be sent all away around the world
To do 80 Jobs for adecco.
Lets go!
I said good morning, but I suppose it's really night-time. My world is all opposite at the moment.
i'm a Club promoter, house DJ
and qualified General Manager
of the hottest nightclub in town. So rather than telling you what I hope I could do
or what I can do to land this amazing opportunity of both personal growth and travelling experence
I thought I'd tell you - What I've already done
and then the profound effect this could have on my life.
Before we get to my real milestones
it's worth noting that i don't come from old money
my family went bankrupt in 2000 and have been slowly rebuilding ever since.
we span from 16 to 77
and i suppose are tighter now than ever given
my father's age and degrading health.
Unfortunately now when I'm at the age to explore and set goals
I don't really have the finical backing to support myself on a learning experience
quite like what Adecco has to offer
I'm asking you guys to like, vote and share this. To help a skinny little white guy in NZ
reach a little higher
So in 2011 the earthquake hit
and the whole city took a bit of a set back
Personally I made the most of the oppertunities I had available
I made as many silly decisions is possible and landed where I am now
while schools were closed I help set up the first water station in our city
and then ran inward good at the
largest distribution centre. When some form
of normality returned
I left school and began work in sales
from retail to services
I helped lead the most efficient youth training unit
in new zealand
Danced my way around the country
Got over one million hits on youtube, and established the best student bar in town.
Being the gentleman of all trades
I crave continuous improvement. Its time to think big, real BIG!
Getting to where I am now hasn't relied on experience nor academia. Not even my devilish good looks.
I'm here because I work hard
and don't accept the limits on what the average person of my age should be able
to achieve
But mostly I do what I do because I love people, all ages and all backgrounds
I may only buy the rich ones a beer
but I take the time to nod, smile or strike
up a conversation with just about everyone I come in contact with
The Chinese call it Guanxi
the old cliche goes its not what you know, its who you know
for most people this is true to some extent
But I belive its everything
the difference between success and faluire
fortune and poverty
So basically, I'm your man
If this is what I can do as a kid in a broken city then just imagine
what I can do all over the world. This is not just an opportunity for travel or work experence
this is an opportunity to explore the people
cultures and occupations of people
all around the world, and to give just that small
glimmer of hope to the youth of today.
