This is Kohei.
Today, I’m going to introduce how to purify NATSUME tea caddy.
First, fold FUKUSA silk cloth.
I have another video that you can refer to for the way of folding FUKUSA.
I’m done folding.
When you wipe NATSUME, fold FUKUSA one more time in half.
Hold it with your right hand.
Hold the right hand above your right knee temporally.
Pick up the NATSUME with left hand and bring it to the center of your body.
Now you can wipe it, but the way of folding varies a little bit for men and women.
First, I’ll show you the way for women.
Wipe the upper surface of NATSUME with FUKUSA with strokes like a letter “こ”.
Wipe down the right rim of NATSUME and have the FUKUSA sideways.
Draw off FUKUSA towards you.
Now it’s done.
I’ll explain it again.
English speakers might not understand the explanation using the letter “こ”.
I’ll explain it with words.
Wipe the far side of the top surface first and then near side after.
When you wipe the far side, do it from left to right with slightly rounded stroke.
For the near side, also wipe it from left to right with rounded stroke.
Finally, wipe down the right corner and have the FUKUSA horizontally.
This is for women.
The way for men is similar but the last part is a little different.
For men, wipe like “こ” the same way.
At the end, have the FUKUSA sideway and spread it.
Wipe the entire surface from your side to the other.
Release the FUKUSA as you enfold it in your hand.
One more time.
Wipe like “こ”.
Place it sideways and open it.
Wipe the top from the near side to the far side.
Enfold it at the end.
Done.
After wiping, you place the NATSUME at the position where it should be.
That’s all.
