Lady Gaga, 28, has been blasted by animal charities for dressing up her pet pooch Asia
in painful and weighty jewellery, headpieces and earrings -- then displaying the results.
The Bad Romance singer started posting dress-up pics of her pup on Wednesday with giant Pat
Butcher-esque jewels clipped to the sad-eyed French bulldog's tiny ears. She later showed
Asia with a heavy duty chainmail necklace draped over its face -- and snout -- captioning
it "Little McQueen". But the star has now come under fire from animal charity PETA,
which has warned the Mother Monster she's a lot to learn about doggie care. "Lady Gaga
may choose to decorate herself with elaborate and even uncomfortable outfits, but Asia doesn't
get to make that choice. Although it seems pretty clear that Lady Gaga loves Asia, we
think Asia -- and all dogs -- are adorable without all the added flair." Even Gaga's
Little Monsters were quick to point out that dolling up her pooch was cruel. Needless to
say, this is not the first time Gaga has wound up animal lovers. Not surprisingly, the delightful
draped meat dress she wore in 2010 also outraged PETA which told her: "Meat is the decomposing
flesh of a tormented animal who didn't want to die." And in 2012 the charity accused her
of having "no heart" when she made a scarf of a fox's head. Dog's Trust veterinary director
Paula Boyden said: "We are shocked to see the pictures of this puppy adorned with heavy
jewellery. "Dressing dogs in pseudo-human clothing not only ridicules and makes a spectacle
of them but treats them as a fashion accessory rather than a living animal."
